The Orthodontic Therapist is a skilled dental professional responsible for providing high-quality orthodontic care to patients under the prescription and supervision of an orthodontist.
The therapist will work closely with the orthodontic team to ensure patients receive comprehensive treatment and achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including taking impressions, photographs, and radiographs.
Place and adjust orthodontic appliances (braces, aligners, etc.)
as directed by the orthodontist.
Monitor patient progress throughout treatment, making adjustments as needed.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and appliance care.
Provide chairside assistance to the orthodontist during procedures.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes.
Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
Maintain inventory of orthodontic supplies and instruments.
Adhere to all infection control protocols and safety regulations.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with the orthodontic team to ensure seamless patient care.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with patients and colleagues.
Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthodontic therapy through continuing education.
Maintain active registration with relevant professional bodies.
Qualifications: Education: Diploma or degree in Orthodontic Therapy from an accredited institution.
Experience: Previous experience as an orthodontic therapist is preferred but not essential.
New graduates are welcome to apply.
Skills: Strong clinical skills in orthodontic procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.  Additional Requirements: Registration: Current registration with the Irish Dental Council.
CPR Certification: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
