BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND-WEST REGION PERMANENT FULL-TIME DAY SERVICES DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR ROSCOMMON SERVICES JOB REF: 114/2024R The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - West Region operate 40 Day Services in County Roscommon, which provide a range of supports to over 260 individuals.
In recent years our Services have evolved from a traditional day services model to one of a dynamic and flexible service which puts a focus on developing meaningful lives and choices for the people we support and placing them as valued participants in the life of their local community.
We continue to develop an individualised model of service to respond to and support adults to achieve their personal outcomes by providing them with more opportunities, choice and flexibility in their lives in line with New Directions and National Policies.
This post will support the management team and the staff in day services to enhance their skills and develop new ideas and practices.
The Service Development Facilitator will support individuals in the Services to be full participating members of their own community and develop new models of Services and supports tailored to the needs of each individual.
We wish to recruit an innovative, creative, visionary person, who will relish theopportunity to work as part of a team to implement and further develop new initiatives.It is essential that the successful candidate has a positive attitude, good organisational skills, good interpersonal and communication, networking, analyticalskills and the ability to use their own initiative and make appropriate decisions.Candidates should demonstrate these skills on their application form.
Reporting to: Co. Roscommon Services Manager.
The post sits within the Quality, Enhancement & Development Department working closely with that team and liaising with the Day Services Development Forum.
The Role: The role of the Day Services Development Facilitator is to support individuals who cannot easily avail of existing mainstream services to access education/training, work experience, voluntary work, and paid employment in their local communities and work with team leaders and staff members to support the development of quality services in line with the New Directions Policy on Day Services.
The post holder will use a person centred approach to: Support Service Managers, Team Leaders and staff members in the ongoing development of quality services in line with the New Directions Policy Assist the overall Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - West Region to develop the necessary infrastructure to operate Day Services to provide high quality and responsive experiences and meet all our statutory obligations and reporting requirements.
Support initiatives to develop Community Networking and Partnerships in achieving inclusion and valued opportunities for individuals supported by our Services.
Support the provision of opportunities for individuals in day services to pursue alternative occupations or training and achieve their personal outcomes.
Identify pathways that assist individuals to develop their vocational interests and skills, develop their education and training opportunities, and job readiness to access and maintain paid employment where appropriate; and to develop and identify support, which will assist interested individuals to avail of opportunities for self-employment and social enterprises.
Support individuals to avail of opportunities to develop positive social roles, and to be a participating member of their local community The successful candidate as a proactive member of the team, will also ensure that the objectives of this initiative are delivered in an efficient and effective manner and within budget.
Qualifications/Experience: A relevant third level qualification in Health/ Social Care Sector e.g.
BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies/Social Care/Social work or Nursing qualification (preferably RNID), Adult Guidance, or Community Development.
Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability is required.
Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, so as to effectively share information among team members as necessary and prepare reports to meet deadlines.
It is essential that the selected candidate works effectively within a dynamic team environment using a person-centred philosophy and be flexible and adaptable to different working situations in order to respond to the needs of the people supported by our services.
Working Hours: A 39-hour working week based on a 5-day duty roster (Monday Friday).
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
This may include evening and/or weekends on occasion.
Annual Leave: 23 days per annum.
Remuneration: €53,621 x 6 increments - €62,619 (Max) per annum.
Location/Travel Base: Based in BOCSI Offices, Golf Links Rd, Ballypheasan, Roscommon, F42 TD98 Tenure: Permanent, full-time and pensionable.
JOB DESCRIPTION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland-West Region (BOCSI-WR)model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their outlook and working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Specific Conditions: Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to ensure that they lead as normal and enjoyable a life as possible.
Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person with an intellectual disability.
Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the West Region Day Services Development Forum in agreeing and implementing relevant actions and Project Plans; Review progress and implementation of relevant actions and goals in BOCSI West Region Strategic Plan and Quality Improvement Plan; Support Day Service staff teams to engage with the interim standards EASI continuous quality improvement process and the development and implementation of Action Plans and Reviews; Review the themes and actions arising out of the implementation of the EASI Tool and seek to support and action the goals emerging from the evaluations, particularly in relation to fostering organisation wide initiatives and Priority Goals; Support key projects that will enable the development of Day Services in BOCSI West Region and support Focus Groups to work on identified key Objectives; Support the ongoing development and implementation of the National Framework for Person Centred Planning in Day Services and assist Services to action and follow through on these plans; Support Initiatives that foster Community Inclusion and connections; Continue to develop on-going relationships and a partnership approach with local education providers, Colleges, Education and Training Boards (GRETB) in delivering relevant courses and supporting individuals to attend mainstream third level college; Support the development of networking and partnerships and develop the capacity of key providers, stakeholders, and partners in the service which will assist in the ongoing delivery of appropriate education, training and employment of individuals with disabilities, e.g.
Employability Roscommon, Local Partnerships, GRETB, local employers, local social and sports associations and clubs; Support collaborative work and sharing of resources and information and share learning and examples of best practice in action within the Service; Support the provision of exchange of resources and programme materials in the development of educational and skill development; Support the ongoing development of Assistive Technology and opportunities offered by enhancing the skills of staff and individuals supported in Digital Media and Information Systems; Support the Identification of pathways which will assist individuals in their vocational interests and skills, develop their education and training opportunities, and job readiness to access and maintain paid employment; Support individuals to avail of opportunities in positive social roles, and avail of appropriate volunteer roles in their community; Provide opportunities for individuals in day services to pursue alternative occupation or training and achieve their personal outcomes and support the development of Transition Plans to achieve this; Develop and identify supports which assist interested individuals in availing of opportunities for self-employment and social enterprises; Support the Identification of potential employment opportunities; Support the ongoing development of Self Advocacy and act as an advocate for individuals where necessary and appropriate; Provide direct supports to individuals in transition where appropriate and relevant; Support staff and individuals in the development of relevant social skills to live independently; Support staff and individuals to develop relevant skills be it educational or employment, e.g.
social, communication, and organisational skills; Participate when required in Individual Plan reviews, training and development programmes, and case conferences; Liaise regularly with relevant Staff Teams and ensure that there is a good exchange of communication and information; Maintain reports and records as required; Maintain high professional standards and confidentiality at all times; Be conscious of Health & Safety matters in the workplace and, in particular, to comply with employees obligations as set out under Section 9 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005; Ensure that all incidents/accidents to the participants/staff are reported promptly to the relevant line manager; Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned to him/her by the Sector Manager /Day Services Development Forum.
All duties must be carried out in person at all times.
The role of the post holder will not be limited by reference to this job description.
It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and service demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this.
