Phd Position In Mechanobiology, University Of Galway, Ireland

Details of the offer

PhD Position in Mechanobiology, University of Galway, IrelandApplications are invited for a fully-funded PhD position focused on investigating the mechanobiology of tumour growth and therapy resistance in the context of breast cancer. The research will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Eoin McEvoy, Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, and will be funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant.
The successful candidate will be involved in developing integrated computational and experimental models for predicting patient-specific cancer cell behavior. This will involve the development of novel microfluidic systems to characterize active cell biomechanics and the creation of coupled predictive models using advanced finite element analysis and agent-based modeling. The research aims to bridge subcellular remodeling and single-cell mechanobiology to gain a fundamental understanding of tumour growth and therapy resistance in breast cancer.
Qualifications Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Applied Maths, or a related field. Prospective candidates should be enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to learn new skills.
Application Interested candidates should send their CV (including the names of two referees) and a one-page cover letter outlining their motivation to work on the project to Dr. Eoin McEvoy at ******.
