Cork University Hospital is the largest single multi-speciality hospital in Ireland.
It is the only Level 1 Trauma Hospital in Ireland.
Regional specialities include neurosurgery, plastics and burns, cystic fibrosis and cardiac surgery.
It is the centre in Cork City and county for trauma orthopaedics.
The Physiotherapy Department provides physiotherapy care within Cork University Hospital, St. Finbarr's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and Cork University Maternity Hospital.
The service also provides weekend and on-call services respiratory and orthopaedic services under specific criteria.
The postholder will be required to participate in this.
Flexibility will be required with regard to the working week as the post holder may be required to give classes/cover clinics in the evening and at weekends.
There are clinical specialists in fracture clinic, GEMS/FIT, neurology/ neurosciences, womens' health, stroke, respiratory & COPD outreach & rheumatology.
Staff grades rotate every 6 months.
There are 5 physiotherapy assistants.
There can be up to 12 physiotherapy students on site at any one time across the campus.

Purpose of the Post: The Physiotherapist Clinical Specialist (Neurosurgical Triage) will work as part of the Neurosurgery service provided to the HSE Region and will:
Triage waiting lists for Neurosurgery and select patient for correct route to physiotherapy, neurosurgery management, investigations or other services. Attend and participate in neurosurgery clinics on site and regionally as covered by consultant services: Waiting list validation to remove patients who no longer require the service and to check for duplication with other specialities.
