Your Role and Responsibilities
This position is for a platform engineer in the hybrid cloud team of IBM's multi-cloud virtual agent and automation products watsonx Assistant and watsonx Orchestrate. Your primary responsibility will be the implementation, maintenance, and DevOps for OpenShift platform extensions via Kubernetes operators and controllers. You will be part of a small agile team, but you will interact with and provide capabilities to several other development, site reliability engineering (SRE), and support teams. You will participate in release cycles of watsonx Orchestrate, building and updating platform components in Go and Python using the Kubernetes APIs. These platform components control various capabilities including data stores, Layer 4 and Layer 7 connectivity, authentication, authorization and load balancing. You must have a passion for examining how things work internally and excellent collaboration skills, since you will devise solutions to challenging problems in complex distributed systems with various different teams. Required Technical and Professional Expertise Experience with Go or Python development. Go is the strongly preferred.Experience with container technology, Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift.Experience with the Kubernetes API, including Custom Resources and the Operator/Controller pattern.Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent. Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise Experience with developing Kubernetes operators.Experience with Ansible or similar automation platforms.Experience managing Linux systems in public cloud, such as IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.Commercial experience with enterprise system monitoring.Solid knowledge of hybrid cloud infrastructure and management such as Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
