Unilin Insulation is seeking an enthusiastic Polymer Apprentice who will gain hands-on experience in quality control, processing, and advanced production techniques.

This is a 3 Year Level 7 Bachelor of Science in Polymer Technology Apprenticeship Programme.
Academic block release is 15 weeks per year, with the first academic block commencing in January 2026.
When not on academic release and pre-enrolment, you will carry out the functions of a Process Technician.

Key Tasks and Duties: Work within the ethos and standards of the company.Achieve levels of performance and product quality in line with KPI's.Work with Operators to ensure Shopfloor Functions are carried out correctly – Staging Coils and IBC's, Spray and stoppage Registration, etc.Responsible for the Laydown team along with the Technical Processing Engineer to ensure product is made to a high standard, running to the formulation set up sheets and ensuring key parameters such as pressure, temperatures, gel time, and laminator thickness are met.Carry out chemical and facer trials on the production line and oversee them through to full-scale production.Monitor all trials and the effect on the finished board – physical test results, fit for use, adhesion, etc.Ensure that pump calibrations are carried out to schedule.Ensure laminator, Laydown, butler, pump room & bulk tank room TPM's are adhered to.Report any maintenance job requirements on the SAP system.Ensure that the mould release and the dispensing system concentration and flow rates are carried out to schedule.Use Data Validation Tool to monitor the process and troubleshoot.Liaise with shift leaders & shift coordinators ensuring that all areas are kept tidy.Assist and cover the lab to carry out day-to-day sampling, testing & re-testing of production samples as per set sampling rates and update results on LIMS system.Assist in quality control of EPS and cavity therm lines.Carry out process improvement projects and report in a timely and tidy manner.Assist in continuous improvement projects.Ensure that all raw material Goods Inwards are completed correctly and assist with offloading tankers and IBC's, stacking coils, etc.Monitor chemical Goods Inwards, ensuring that all products meet the required specification.All duties must be carried out in accordance with the relevant work instruction or to the highest standard possible if one is not available.Undertake any other tasks appropriate to the position, as requested by management.What can you expect?Unilin is a fast-growing, profitable and bustling group that is active internationally.
