Home Building Finance Ireland ("HBFI") is a State agency designed to lend money for the purposes of funding the construction of new homes in Ireland. HBFI has been established as a commercial entity, providing finance at market rates for commercially viable residential developments.
Role Summary
The Portfolio Manager reports to the Senior Portfolio and Operations Manager. The Portfolio Manager will support the Senior Portfolio and Operations Manager in respect of all HBFI's Portfolio Management function. The successful candidate will carry responsibility for managing and overseeing the key post approval portfolio management processes including liaising with customers, stakeholders, and the Lending and Credit teams.
Principal Accountabilities Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Support the Senior Portfolio and Operations Manager with implementation of strategic plans aligned with the overall goals of HBFI.
• Assist in the management of all lending activities associated with the active lending portfolio, ensuring loans are effectively monitored, administered and maintained throughout their life cycle and high standards of customer service are provided.
• Support the Senior Portfolio and Operations Manager in regular reviews of borrower relationships and funded developments with the Head of Commercial, the HBFI Executive Management Team, and other HBFI business areas.
• Manage the day-to-day relationship with the borrowers, primary service provider and other external advisors and act as a point of contact for same.
• Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of operational processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and service quality.
Relationships with other business divisions:
• Maintain strong working relationships with the lending team, the credit & risk team, the primary service provider and other external advisors such as the monitoring surveyors, property advisors, etc.
Knowledge & Experience
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role in a financial institution with a proven track record in residential development lending, preparing funding proposals, building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers and achieving lending targets.
• Excellent knowledge of residential development lending product offerings and markets.
• Strong knowledge of lending agreements, covenants and security requirements.
• Excellent understanding of relevant financing models and data with an ability to review, understand and interpret audited financial accounts and financial forecasts.
• Demonstrated sound commercial judgement and awareness of the residential market in Ireland.
• Track record in managing credit quality and compliance with policies and procedures.
Skills
• Have a track record in delivering results and objectives.
• Have some experience driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lending processes and customer experience.
• Strong customer focus and a proven commitment to customer excellence.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and manage workload.
• Strong negotiation skills with ability to identify key risk issues in negotiation of borrowing facilities and to deliver alternative solutions if required.
• Strong understanding of deal structuring.
• An ability to work on own initiative and interact as a part of a highly motivated team.
• Effectively contribute to the achievement of goals and targets set for self, others and organisation.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
• Exemplary governance and ethics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Qualifications
• Degree preferably in economics/finance or other relevant discipline, and/or equivalent professional qualification.
