Unspecified The Collins Aerospace Applied Research & Technology organization seeks candidates with proven research credentials in Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) system design and performance evaluation to join the Connected & Real-time Systems Group in Cork, Ireland.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong mix of theoretical knowledge and applied experience in the design, prototyping, and demonstration of new CNS technologies to address emerging concepts such as high-altitude and very low-altitude operations, across HAPS, IAM, U-Space, and space-based applications. This is a research focused role to shape future aerospace technologies from concept definition through to demonstration.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate outstanding track records applicable to one or more of:Concept of operations (CONOPS) and Operational Service and Environment Definition (OSED) analysis of emerging operational concepts, and specifically the CNS system performance required to support these operations.High-level analysis, operational modelling, and simulation of next-generation CNS services, and particularly framing the associated economic modelling in terms of network and system level performance.Simulation of radar, datalink, and surveillance system performance within representative operational scenarios, including coexistence challenges and regulatory constraints.Knowledge of EU and US technology roadmaps towards future air traffic management is highly desirable but not essential.
Familiarity with legacy aeronautical CNS technologies such as GNSS, ADS-B, MLAT, radar, and datalink communications is also highly desirable.Key Job ResponsibilitiesContribute to a growing research agenda for future aerospace systems within the Collins Aerospace Advanced Technology research community, including supporting technical strategy and business development.Execute R&D activities within an international research community, including technology development within collaborative multi-national research programs.Provide competitive advantage for Collins Aerospace business units as part of a multidisciplinary and international team of experts.Qualifications & CompetenciesMotivated self-starter with a strong enthusiasm to learn and passion for speed and agility towards demonstrating innovative technology concepts.Well-organized with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in international teams.Willing to champion and challenge new technical ideas and adapt to new challenges beyond original field of expertise.Able to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations to meet organizational objectives within time and budget constraints.Education & ExperienceA MS or PhD in Computer Science, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, with a few years of professional experience.
