ContextWe are now seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Consultant with rail industry expertise to be part of our rail and wider consultancy team in Ireland.
The role will be based in our Dublin office, but we are open to applications looking to be based in our Cork office and benefits from the flexibility of our hybrid working model.

You will be part of a growing team that is supporting Irish Rail, NTA, DoT, DfI and EIB on improving rail services across Ireland and have the opportunity to collaborate on wider UK & International projects.
This work involves strategy development, business and appraisal of rail schemes, and the delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with consultancy and engineering colleagues to deliver solutions for our clients that respond to stakeholder needs, supported by the Director for Rail in Ireland, the locally based team and colleagues across the business.
Missions/Main DutiesManage small projects with an opportunity to play a leading role on large projects with support and guidance from the team.Provide advisory services on the benefits of rail in land use and transport planning, mobility hubs, and transit-oriented developments.Actively participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and partners with a focus on solutions through consensus.Collaborate to ensure project objectives are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.Prepare technical documents and reports including design deliverables, with support from specialist engineering disciplines as required.Profile/SkillsHold a Level 8 degree in civil engineering or related field.
Master's Degree (level 9) is preferred but not essential.The successful candidate will be progressing towards a Chartered Engineer (CEng) MIEI or equivalent recognised professional qualification.Proven ability to prepare scheme option selection reports aligned with Transport Appraisal Framework or similar guidance.Proven ability to monitor and handle multiple projects at the same time, balance key priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines.Experience supporting schemes through Railway Order or Transport and Works Act Order processes.Knowledge of requirements under Project Supervision Design Process and/or UK CDM 2015 Regulations.An understanding of the relationship between rail service timetabling, demand for services and infrastructure capacity is a benefit.Why SYSTRA?
