Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to lead and manage the procurement function for our electrical and mechanical engineering projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, and services, and ensuring that all procurement activities support project timelines and cost efficiency.
This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker with excellent knowledge of supply chain management within the engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities: Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals, ensuring the timely supply of materials and services at optimal costs.
Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with suppliers for electrical and mechanical equipment, materials, and services.
Ensure suppliers meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
Ensure all procurement contracts comply with company policies and legal requirements.
Cost Control: Monitor and control procurement budgets, analyze cost-saving opportunities, and mitigate risks in the supply chain.
Inventory Management: Ensure efficient management of inventory to support ongoing and future projects while minimizing waste and overstock.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to forecast needs, anticipate supply chain disruptions, and ensure that procurement aligns with project specifications and timelines.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and health and safety protocols.
Prepare and present reports on procurement performance and supplier evaluations.
Sustainability & Innovation: Drive sustainable procurement practices, seeking environmentally responsible suppliers and innovative solutions that enhance the company's operations.
Conduct price comparisons among at least three suppliers if the material cost exceeds a certain threshold.
Negotiate and fix annual pricing with most suppliers after reviewing price comparisons.
In this case, approval from higher management is mandatory.
Coordinate delivery schedules and follow up with the relevant team.
Work to open credit accounts with as many suppliers as possible and explore new suppliers offering better pricing and credit terms.
Requirements: Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Trades or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the electrical or mechanical engineering sector desirable.
Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
Strong understanding of supply chain management, market trends, and procurement best practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
Familiarity with Irish and EU procurement regulations and standards.
Excellent Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills: Knowledge of Motors and Instrumentation an advantage Knowledge of Electrical cabling and accessories Knowledge of various different types of pipework for mechanical installations   What We Offer: Competitive salary and benefits package.
