Position Job Title: Operations Manager BG and BU: Amcor Flexibles EMEA, Healthcare BU Function: Operations Location: Sligo, Northwest Ireland Line Manager's Job Title: Plant General Manager Job Purpose The AF Sligo site is an integral part of our Healthcare Business Unit. The HC Business Unit of Amcor Flexibles EMEA utilises advanced extrusion, coating, printing, laminating and specialist conversion technologies across a number of European sites, supplying a range of flexible packaging products to a distinguished medical & pharma customer base.
The Operations Manager within our Sligo site is responsible for managing Production, Maintenance, OHSE areas and the main priorities will be as follows:
SafetyCoworker EngagementCompliance with company/plant policies and proceduresAlignment with plant objectives and customer requirementsFocus on continuous improvement and innovationEnsure excellent levels of customer service and product qualityWithin Plant Leadership Team, support PGM in the plant management, with a drive for excellence approach.Job Dimensions & Scope Turnover for the Plant: €30MilProcess: Printing, Pouching, Venting, Lidding & TraysComplexity: Interaction with customers, suppliers, contractors, AFEMEA Business Group (R&D, Sales, Operations Excellence, Procurement, IT) and other AFEMEA plants.Staff: 70+ (50 direct reports) across Production, Warehousing, Maintenance and OHSEScope & Geographical spread: Sligo Plant, Amcor plants, Business Group (Sales, Manufacturing Excellence-CI, OHSE and R&D) and Suppliers; External servicesPrincipal Accountabilities Safety: Taking an active role in the plant's safety programs and goals, spreading safety cultureCoordination of company functions in the application of the HSE SystemImplementation of safety and health measures in the workplace;Development of safety procedures for the various company activities;Training and informing workers about Safety issues and responsibilitiesSupports activities related to ISO 14001 and ISO 13485,Operations: Delivering budget in terms of production volumes, costs, CapexDefining and managing organisational processes and improvements (roles, responsibilities, number of headcounts, shifts, activities), according to company policies and budgetEnsure timely execution of the production plan by optimising capacity to meet demandDefining and verifying the correct KPIs to control processes performanceResponsible for a smooth warehousing operation to support the production planning and service levelsSupport the optimisation of working capital through the reduction of inventoryDeliver continuous improvement plans for all aspects of the site operationsPromoting Amcor Values within the plantHeightening own team performances, knowledge, and leadershipMaintaining high level of collaboration, motivation, and engagementCreating value through best practices sharing with other plants and introduction of new technologiesSupport development of all maintenance functions for machinery, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions.Develop exceptional practices to maximise quality, output and minimise waste, downtime and manufacturing cost.Qualifications/Requirements Formal Qualifications And Experience: Proven senior Operations Management experience, gained in a fast paced, highly regulated manufacturing environmentExperience in packaging is an advantage but not a pre-requisite for the roleExperience of successfully managing significant change / transformation projects within a manufacturing environment.First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.Degree in a Science, Technology or Engineering subject preferred.Specific Skills And Abilities: Proactive, positive leadership and people skills to ensure alignment with safety culture throughout organizationDemonstrate employee engagement skills in an ongoing effort to create a positive & fulfilling work environment.Assertive problem-solver able to identify gaps and define implementable solutionsGenuine passion to transform manufacturing capabilityOpen, outgoing and team-oriented interpersonal style with strong motivation and facilitation skillsResults-oriented: able to take actions and implement effective solutions in a timely mannerSkilled communicatorCustomer orientationDrive and energyAnalytical and structured approachAre you interested?
