The successful applicant will have an established reputation in research in the field of Road Safety and Traffic Medicine and will be expected to develop an ongoing research portfolio and contribute to postgraduate teaching, supervision and mentoring in this field.
The Centre for Innovative Human Systems (CIHS), School of Psychology is seeking to appoint a new role title to head up the National Office for Traffic Medicine (NOTM).
The office supports the Road Safety Authority (RSA) in developing and implementing national medical fitness to drive standards and guidelines based on active and ongoing state of the art research in this area as part of the remit for this office.
This role requires a proven track record in academic publications and research projects as well as international and national collaborations with a range of experts in medical and related disciplines.
An established track record of collaborating with other road safety stakeholders (e.g., Garda Síochána, the Medical Bureau of Road Safety, other leading academics etc.)
is also critical.
The position will have responsibility for the development and implementation of the Research strategy on Medical Fitness to Drive in collaboration with CIHS and RSA and other related stakeholders in order to improve road safety and mobility on our roads.
The specific purpose of the post is to provide clinical expertise in order to deliver the services of the National Office of Traffic Medicine.The continuation of this employment is at all times contingent upon the continuation of this programme.
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract Hours of Post: Part-Time (0.4 FTE) Salary: This appointment will be made on the Associate Professor Full (Professor In) Salary Scale (€101,433- €135,607 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
