The project: The role is within the technical design authority for the transmission system. Engineering and asset management is the area that facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plants to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies. In addition, the area is responsible for ensuring that requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.

Deliver on our promise: You will ensure robust quality systems are in place, and suitably managed in line with service excellence.You will manage delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the associate director and other senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.Ensuring that technical queries raised during the project are dealt with in accordance with TSO standards and policies and are closed out efficiently.Ensuring that projects are carried out in a manner that meets requirements.Reviewing and comparing submitted detailed designs against functional requirements and outline designs.Monitoring of construction progress, and onsite inspection to ensure compliance with standards, functional requirements, and outline designs.Ensuring developments are commissioned to comply with the requirements producing and issuing commissioning instructions.Verifying transmission system requirements are met to allow commissioning tests to proceed.Assisting the lead engineers with the engagement with customer and stakeholder technical consultants as and when required in order to resolve issues arising.Coordinating with peers to meet business priorities, manage issues as they arise, provide technical guidance, and act as an escalation point to the EAM manager.Managing interactions on own projects with client engineering vendors, customers and internal stakeholders.Providing technical direction and assistance across the organisation on own projects and to team members and junior staff, and acting as a team representative when required.Ensuring the completion of Stage Gate Reviews on all customer projects to ensure that the requirements of functional specifications are met.Providing completion and dissemination of lessons learned on each project post project energisation.Ensuring appropriate engagement with our partners in ESB Networks including meetings, reporting, relationship management, and general communication as applicable to the client engineering role.Facilitating and inputting project reviews, assessment and auditing by internal and external parties as required.Integrity - For our people to excel: You will manage design and wider consultant teams in a collaborative manner to ensure effective completion of responsibilities.You will lead and manage the project team and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.You'll need to have: An Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 4-5 years experience post-graduate.Transmission Substation design expertise with experience assessing substation designs for conformity to standards at 110/220/400 kV.Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.A construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.Experience completing onsite inspection and monitoring of construction progress for compliance to ensure transmission assets can be commissioned in accordance with standards.Experience preparing and issuing transmission design drawings, such as single line diagrams, substation layout drawings, protection schematics and interlocking drawings.You'll also have: Membership or working towards chartership of IEI, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the Energy sector.Infrastructure project management expertise.Commercial and financial acumen.Experience of working on projects within large, diverse teams.Experience of developing and forming relationships with other stakeholders within projects.Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
