The main purpose of this role is to develop, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and other funding sources.
This position involves coordinating with various units within GRI to create compelling narratives, projects, and budgets to secure gifts and grants.ResponsibilitiesDeliveryDesign, write and coordinate the development of grant proposals by writing.Submit proposals to secure funding from foundations, governments, corporations and high-net-worth individuals while understanding the terms of the funding requirements.Develop and manage a system to track all grant applications, awards and agreements by ensuring that all requirements of the grant are met in order to be compliant not only financially but also aligned to donor requirements.Develop and maintain all the correct data management required to ensure that an overview of the grant cycle is clear, and knowledge management is correctly captured.EngagementCollaborate closely with all GRI departments and specifically with the programmatic, finance & communications teams to gather necessary information for proposals.Coordinate with various units within GRI to develop project descriptions, budgets, and timelines that align with donor requirements.Engage with potential funder in an iterative process to refine and deliver a final proposal.Provide regular reports to the Finance and Management Board on grant submissions, outcomes, and donor engagement.Provide training and support to GRI staff on grant writing and proposal development.Work ExperiencePrevious experience in proposal/grant writing with a proven track record of securing donations and grants.Knowledge and abilitiesDegree in a relevant field, advanced degree and/or relevant certification preferred.Knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and sustainable business practices would be an advantage.Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills as well as superior editing skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.Superior organizational, project management and program budgeting skills.Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
