Public Health Senior Practitioner - Health Improvement

Job summary We are seeking a motivated individual to join the Public Health team, working on health improvement locally.
As a Senior Public Health Practitioner, the post holder will work with a range of teams and services to deliver the objectives of the team.
The post holder must be able to demonstrate their ability to work with large and small multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams of diverse individuals and be able to manage conflicting perspectives.
Key working relationships that the post holder will be expected to establish and maintain, both internally and externally of ABUHB, include fellow Public Health team members, other ABUHB departments, Public Health Wales, other Health Boards, Local Authorities and Social Care Providers.
There may be times when the post holder will be expected to work with, engage and/or communicate with members of the public.
Main duties of the job The post holder will have experience of working to reduce health inequalities in a local authority, public health or multi-agency setting, and will play an important role in developing the skills and knowledge of others about health inequalities.
To work in partnership with a range of local, regional and national organisations to make a significant contribution to equity, health and quality of life of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (Gwent) residents.
You will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a range of programmes and services, by providing Public Health support to service improvement work, including health needs assessments, service reviews, pathway development, prioritisation and commissioning of health services.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Masters or equivalent in Public Health/Health Promotion or allied discipline or equivalent professional qualification Evidence of continuing professional/personal development.
Desirable Registered, or working towards registration, with the UK Public Health Register (Practitioner Registration) Skills and Attributes Essential Excellent communication and analytical skills, particularly in relation to evidence-based health improvement Ability to work successfully with diverse professional partners, and manage potentially conflicting perspectives Data collection, collation, analysis and interpretation.
Ability to initiate and implement programmes that promote health and well-being.
Management of meetings multi-media presentation skills Training skills including training needs analysis and evaluation IT skills Understanding of NHS/local government policy agenda and public health environment.
Practical knowledge of public health practice, health care evaluation, health promotion models and community development.
Desirable Project planning and management.
Capacity building.
Staff management and development.
Information and knowledge management skills.
Consultancy/facilitation skills Formation management and an understanding of health related data and its interpretation.
Ability to understand, speak and read Welsh.
Experience Essential Relevant experience in public health/health promotion Experience of working with communities.
