Quality Co-Ordinator Clerical Grade 5 Permanent, Full Time Role Mercy University Hospital (MUH) MUH is a growing voluntary hospital in the heart of Cork City. Principle Duties: Organise and provide administrative support to the Quality & Risk Manager in respect of the hospitals Patient Safety Walk Rounds Programme. Lead the roll-out of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Electronic Point of Entry project for the MUH including NIMS data entry. Co-ordinate and assist in ensuring the MUH Corporate Risk Register and departmental risk registers are kept up to date and disseminate reports as required. Prepare monthly Patient Safety Indicator Reports for SSWHG. Acknowledge and respond to HSE National Patient Safety Alerts (NPSA). Deputise for Complaints Officer when on leave. Lead the QRMD teams activities in the absence of the senior QRMD staff. This role requires strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should be highly motivated with the ability to work on his/her own initiative. Providing information, advice and guidance on the area of Quality & Patient Safety both orally and in writing will be required. Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically will be necessary. Ability to take notes at meetings will also be necessary. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are required in this role to support the Project function, including the arrangement of meetings, room bookings and other events, e.g. workshops. Timely provision of agendas, meeting notes and other relevant documents. Responsible for specific aspects of project support as delegated by the Quality & Risk Manager. Assist the Quality & Risk Manager with the establishment and maintenance of an appropriate project monitoring framework. Assist in the collation and presentation of information for reports as and when required and requested. Responsible for the effective co-ordination and management of project documentation. Maintain an accurate filing system to ensure swift retrieval of documentation and information. Attend and represent the MUH at all local and Regional Meetings on Quality & Patient Safety agenda as organised and disseminate all points of learning to relevant stakeholders. Eligibility Criteria Essential: 3+ years experience in a hospital or patient care setting. Excellent computing and database skills and the ability to broaden computing experience with other packages. Excellent administration and organization skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in particular letter and report writing skills. Ability to work to deadlines and devise and implement plans and changes. Ability to deal with Service Users and colleagues across all departments in a compassionate and supportive manner with an emphasis on a high level of customer service. Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Highly organised, resilient and able to remain calm and focused under pressure. Readiness to make decisions and initiate action. A willingness to undertake role specific training as required from time to time. Desirable: Quality qualification. Proven experience of general office procedures. Knowledge of iPMS.
