The CompanyOhshima Ireland is currently seeking an experienced Quality Metrology Technician to join our growing team based in our facility in Shannon, Co. Clare. This organisation has worldwide expertise but also a local presence within our specialized field. This will be a key role in the company and requires someone coming from a fast-paced multi-national company background.Job DescriptionThe Quality Metrology Technician will be responsible for performing precision measurements and inspections to ensure that products meet established quality standards.
This role involves using advanced metrology equipment and techniques to verify the accuracy and integrity of parts and components. Key Responsibilities:Conduct precision measurements using a variety of metrology equipment, such as a PCMM (Portable Coordinate measuring machine – Faro Arm, Romer Arm), calipers, micrometers, and gauges.Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine inspection criteria.Record and analyse measurement data, identifying trends and deviations from specifications.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality issues and recommend corrective actions.Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.Document inspection results and prepare detailed reports.Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on inspection processes and quality control methods.Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards. Requirements and Skills: Associate's degree or technical certification in metrology, quality control, engineering, or a related field.Proven experience as a Quality Metrology Technician or in a similar role.Proficiency in using metrology and inspection equipment, including PCMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Good communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100D) is a plus.PCMM (Portable Coordinate measuring machines) such as a Faro Arm or a Romer Arm is an advantage.This role requires candidates to be currently residing in Ireland with a valid work permit.
