The main responsibility of this role is to support and drive R&D Engineering activities including specification, procurement, installation, optimization, validation and implementation of new equipment for the development and manufacture of new products or new processes at the Alcon Ireland site.The successful candidate will support all maintenance for the R&D Engineering Group process equipment including coating, curing, cleaning, assembly and chemical process systems as well as utilities equipment.
A typical day in this role will include:Assist R&D Engineering in the specification, design and procurement of new process and utilities equipment.Assembly, build, installation of new equipment coming to site.
Identification/setup of spare parts for new or existing equipment on site.Liaise with Suppliers/External Contractors to obtain quotations, method statements & risk assessments and coordinate the onsite activities of contract personnelSupport R&D Engineering process development, characterization and optimization activities.Assist R&D Engineering in all aspects of Validation document generation and execution.
(risk assessments, validation assessments and execution of commissioning / validation documents).Responsible for maintenance of R&D Engineering process and utilities equipmentProvide first response technical support to all R&D Engineering process and utilities equipmentDaily reporting into Supervisor/Project Engineer on all activities and highlighting concerns early.Responsible for achieving assigned project milestones for R&D Engineering activities on time and within Budget.Support safety risk assessments for any new equipment and /or processes introduced.Responsible for investigating and documenting process issues and report to Engineering all findings and solutions.Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon QS requirements.Assigned work adheres to H&S and environmental requirements.What you should bring to Alcon:Strong technical ability.Ability to trouble shoot electro/mechanical issues.Ability to work on own initiative.Good problem-solving skillsPC skills such as Word, Excel and operating systemsGood time managementGood technical writing skillsKnowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP standardsWe want you onboard if you if you have:A minimum Level 7 qualification in an Engineering or Technical disciplineA minimum 2+ years of experience in a technical roleExperience with equipment and utilities from new equipment coming onsite to troubleshooting existing equipmentProblem Solving mentality
