R&D Manager
Our client, a high potential medical device startup, is seeking an R&D Manager to join their team. Reporting to the CEO, the R&D Manager will take charge of and nurture an engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence and technical proficiency, and efficiently spearheading strategic projects and initiatives. The R&D Manager will be comfortable working closely with senior management and other stakeholders within the organization and will effectively deliver product solutions.
Role/Responsibilities: Lead high complexity projects and initiatives within the business unit, with responsibility for planning, budgeting, meeting project goals, and adequately staffing with talent.Structure and resource the R&D team appropriately to develop technologies that ensure business success.Mentor, coach, and ensure career development plans are in place for direct reports. Growth-oriented managers who recruit and hire top-performing talent and prioritize the development of their team members.Plan projects, report progress results, create and maintain all necessary documentation.Strategic mindset and the ability to plan and execute across the business to achieve strategic objectives.Work together with the leadership team in R&D to define priorities and contribute to the innovation roadmap.Maintain effective communication channels with members of the management and engineering teams.Implement process improvements and leverage the talent of their team to consistently increase performance and productivity.Take charge of projects and oversee their progress throughout all stages of development, ensuring the achievement of project milestones within specified timelines.Foster innovation and creativity within the team by providing mentorship, coaching, and developmental opportunities to direct reports.Skills/Experience: An honours Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or related discipline is required.At least 5 years of managerial experience leading R&D teams for new product development.Brings support and positive attributes to a culture that is respectful, supportive, goal-oriented, scientific, and diverse.Understands team dynamics and is experienced at building teams that deliver results.Experience in the development of medical devices that require complex processes and assembly techniques, with a proven ability to deliver results in this setting.Strong initiative and follow-through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles, and balancing multiple priorities effectively through strong technical and/or project leadership experience.Experience in preparation of project proposals, development project plans, detailed project schedules, product design input requirements, and design verification test plans.Experience in medical device design principles, material selection, design concept validation, and test method development is essential.Experience of working under medical device design controls, with proven knowledge of design verification/validation and design/process FMEAs.Experience of medical device regulations including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), QSR (Quality Systems Regulations), and ISO quality requirements is required.Proficiency with MS Office suite is required.For further information, please contact James Cassidy at ****** or call in confidence at 086 0204322.
