About The Role
We are seeking two dedicated and experienced Regional Field Engineers to join our team for a 12-month plus assignment. The successful candidate will contribute to providing field support on gigabit-speed broadband to homes, farms, schools, and businesses that are not fully served by commercial operators.
Key Objectives / Accountabilities: We are looking for enthusiastic Second Line Support Engineers. You should be comfortable with a constantly changing environment, detail-oriented, and passionate about efficiency and excellent service. Ideally with domain expertise across two or more of OSS, Optical Line Termination (OLT), Optical Network Termination (ONT), DWDM, and IP (Nokia an advantage). Deep specialist domain expertise or the aptitude to develop such in OLT, ONT, and Passive Optical Network (PON) technology, systems, and related processes is required.
Key Responsibilities/Requirements: Must live or be prepared to live within 25km of the regional town centre in the area you apply to be responsible for within 3 months of being hired. These towns are as follows:
Ballyshannon (Bundoran) - Co. DonegalOughterard - Co. GalwayResponsible for a region of approximately 40-50 nodes.
Perform in-field repair and preventative maintenance to support optimal function and performance of all FTTH access network elements across the OSS, OLT, ONT, Microwave DWDM, and IP domains, specializing in Fibre, OLT, ONT, and PON.
Support the resolution of complex customer issues.
Resolve complex single- and multi-domain issues.
Contribute to the performance management of the operations team and third-party contractors.
Foster an open team culture of excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Develop strong relationships with colleagues in the Network Operations Centre and the Customer Operations teams, as well as liaising with third-party vendor specialists who will provide third-line support.
Work with business stakeholders and IT to ensure the quality of documentation and the ability to measure and manage the performance of the network to stringent KPIs.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
5+ years of technology/operations experience in an ICT environment.A third-level qualification in engineering, computer science, physics, or similar.Skills in OLT/ONT troubleshooting, OTDR testing, Fibre Fault finding, Core Fibre, FTTP.Domain knowledge across OSS, OLT, ONT, DWDM, and IP (Nokia an advantage); and deeper domain expertise in Fibre Fault finding, OLT, ONT, and PON.Knowledge of Analytic Trouble Shooting (ATS) techniques, test methodologies, and techniques; and an aptitude for analysis, prioritization, and clear technical communication to identify root causes of functional and performance problems and generate remedies and resolutions.About Us
