BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND LIMERICK REGION Applications are invited for the following position: STAFF NURSE / ENHANCED STAFF NURSE PERMANENT FULL TIME CONTRACT LOCATION: BAWNMORE, LIMERICK Essential Applicants must be on the current register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Have a clear understanding of HIQA guidelines and the policies that govern it Full Clean Manual Drivers Licence Possess a good knowledge of Intellectual Disability Excellent IT, administration, report writing and organisational skills Demonstrate initiative, good interpersonal and teamwork skills Desirable Experience in working in the Intellectual Disability Sector Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse I Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Sunday 1st September 2024 Short listing of applications may apply Canvassing will disqualify Panels may be formed as a result of the interview process. Reports to: Nurse Manager or Designate Hours of Work: As per Contract Qualifications: Have a recognised qualification in nursing (RNID desirable) and be currently registered in an appropriate division of the Register of An Bord Altranais (N.M.B.I.) Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: To provide a home-like atmosphere for all people supported by the services in a manner which will develop their ability to integrate into community life. To foster, encourage and develop people supported by the services self care skills, particularly in relation to personal hygiene, health matters and care of their personal appearance. To foster, encourage and develop participation where appropriate at a social level, for example, in local sports and recreational activities and leisure pursuits within and outside the residential setting To provide variety and individuality to people supported by the services in life style and enable each client to pursue and maintain their individual hobbies and interests. To evaluate, plan and implement nursing care for people supported by the services as appropriate. To ensure the religious needs of people supported by the services are catered for. To ensure that people supported by the services attends at the appropriate training, work or activation programme at the time(s) stipulated. To supervise and direct the work of other staff and any students. To act as a Preceptor to student nurses assigned to you. To requisition goods In accordance with the existing procedures and Policies of the organisation and to ensure that due economy and accountability is exercised. To attend to the needs of people supported by the services in each bungalow/ residential setting, this will include household duties. To ensure that people supported by the services private monies are carefully accounted for and that records are kept and reports made as required on all matters relating to the custody of monies for and receipt of monies from each client. To devise and participate as required in the implementation of Personal Lifestyle Plan, Training Programme and other plans relevant to people supported by the services. To maintain records and issue reports as required. To administer medication in accordance with the policies of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland and in accordance with An Bord Altranais guidelines. It is a requirement of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland thatany matters of concern be reported immediately to your Manager or his/her designate. To be familiar with current developments in the services for people with intellectual disabilities and to attend meetings and to participate in Training Programmes, as required. To participate in the staff appraisal system To ensure you are familiar with Health, Safety and Welfare Legislation and with existing fire regulations and to comply with emergency procedures. CONFIDENTIALITY: It is a requirement to maintain the confidentiality of information concerning the business of the Services in accordance with the Policy on Confidentiality, the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act. You are required to establish and maintain relationships with theIndividuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence. To undertake other duties as may be assigned from time to time by your Manager or Designate. You must hold a Full Clean Driving Licence as you are required to be willing and able to drive a vehicle with up to 8 passenger seats and up to 3,500 kg.
