Research Fellow

Details of the offer

Research Fellow Our research collaboration comprises experts from Trinity College Dublin, the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics (NCPE), the National Cancer Registry of Ireland (NCRI), the Irish Longitudinal Study of Aging (TILDA) along with national and international collaborators.
We have secured funding for a 2-year research programme.
The aim of this programme is to determine how national decision-making, in relation to sustainable medicine policies, might be better informed.
In Ireland, the current assessment process, of the expected value of new medicines, involves predictions, made by experts, about how the medicines are likely to affect patients' health outcomes and how much the medicines will cost the health-state payer.
The decision maker uses this information when deciding if the medicine should be funded for use.
However, these predictions are often associated with uncertainty and the true value of the medicine is often not measured after it has been used.
This research programme will bring together data from the national medicines-funding database (PCRS), the NCRI and TILDA to inform the use, health outcomes and costs associated with medicines in Ireland.
An experienced Research Fellow with a PhD in a related field of data analysis, statistics and /or epidemiology is sought for this post.
The candidate will be based in the Discipline of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Trinity College Dublin and the NCPE.
The NCPE (affiliated to Trinity College Dublin) assesses evidence for comparative effectiveness, cost effectiveness and affordability of new technologies.
The NCPE plays a leading role in various European and international HTA organisations and holds collaborative links with national and international academic centres.
