Research Fellow In Quanutm Networks

In recent years, quantum computing has developed at an impressive pace, with implementations already claiming quantum supremacy.
Such fast development drives the requirement to exchange quantum information between quantum computers and towards end users, to enable distributed quantum computing and ubiquitous access to centralized quantum resources.
However, in order for quantum communications to be implemented a large scale, it will need to make use of the ubiquitous optical fibre network that is already in place for classical telecommunications network.
This work will thus focus on the development of a framework to enable coexistence of classical and quantum channels over the same fibre network infrastructure.
One Post Doctoral researcher position is available for work in the area of fibre-based quantum communications networks, including research on protocols and intelligent control planes for hybrid classical/quantum communications networks.
The applicants should have a solid background and working experience in optical networking and experience in quantum communications.
The position will be based in the CONNECT research centre at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
The researcher will also be part of the School of Computer Science and Statistics in TCD.
