MedBridge Healthcare is seeking an experienced RPSGTs to work in the Dublin, GA area.
This position will provide sleep services from 8pm-6am.
Competitive hourly rates available, depending on experience and patient ratio.
MedBridge is a leading provider of sleep laboratory management services and sleep therapy.
MedBridge partners with hospitals and physician practices to offer comprehensive fully-integrated services for patient identification, testing, diagnosis, treatment and long-term care management of patients with sleep disorders.
Position Description and Responsibilities:A Polysomnographic Technologist/Technician works under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D., D.O.)
or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
A sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff.
The sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology.
Gather and Analyze Patient Information: Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet the patient-specific needs and determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.Complete and verify documentation.Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to the patient.Testing Preparation Procedures: Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary.Verify patient video recording(s) is operating properly per laboratory standard protocol.Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and adjust as necessary.Perform positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.Polysomnographic Procedures: Follow procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc.
to ensure collection of appropriate data.Document observations every 20 minutes on recording and in technical comments to include: sleep stage, clinical events, position changes, pressure changes, SaO2 values, heart rate, and respiratory rate, changes in procedure, and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Oversee and perform difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to center specific protocols.Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification.Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills.Respond to study participant's procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.Comply with the ABSM Standards of Conduct.RequirementsPhysical Demands of the Job: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.The employee is required to use hands to operate office equipment.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Continuum of Patient Care During the Shift: Continuity of patient care must be provided in a coordinated manner.
If one technician must pass patient care to another technician, the receiving technician must acknowledge acceptance of that care and document the exchange in accordance with the MedBridge Continuum of Care policy.
