Safety Assurance Officer

We have a great opportunity for a Safety Assurance Officer on a project with a Utilities group based in the South-East region.This is a long-term position which offers a hybrid model of days working from home, client office, and on site.Key Responsibilities:Review and validation of risk assessments issued as part of the data gathering process.Review current processes around task and dynamic risk assessments.Review Ancillary Safety Statements and Method Statement approach.Review existing processes around communication of risk.Develop HSQE processes for hazard identification, risk assessment and control.
Includes Safe System of Work plans (SSWP's), Method Statements & Permits to Works.Assistance in the collation and preparation of monthly reports and KPIs.Documentation Management, including version control, change management and controlled distribution.Provide support in the delivery of other related client HSQE Projects.Provide support and advice to internal stakeholders in the preparation of risk assessments.Carry out HSQE Inspections to gather information for risk assessments.Assist in the development of the Integrated Management System.Prepare training materials, schedule and carry out internal training.Provide support to the Risk Assessment Lead.Perform other duties as required from time to time.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceRelevant third level qualification – Minimum Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work.Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in a similar position, preferably on a Utilities project.Strong IT experience essential, particularly the use of Sharepoint and Microsoft packages, in particular Excel and Visio.Previous experience in report writing and collation of information for KPI's, safety metrics, presentations etc.Previous experience in carrying out HSQE Inspections in operational environments.Previous experience in working with all elements of a Safety Management System and knowledge of Integrated Management Systems, ISO 18001/45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001.Ability to Develop relationships to accomplish team goals.Prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining focused on main goals.Secure and compare information from multiple sources to identify business issues; committing to an action after weighing alternative solutions against decision criteria.Set high standards, by encouraging others to embed a HSQE culture.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Full driving license and own transport is essential.Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and Low Risk Confined Space training certificates.
