The Opportunity We are now seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Interconnection team. The role of Senior Analyst will support the Interconnection function Team in ensuring that it fulfills its objective to integrate and optimise the use of HVDC interconnection assets to deliver the greatest benefit to the System Operation of the Irish transmission grid while supporting the ongoing integration of renewable generation resources. The role holder will work with the team in areas including multi-disciplined Change Management to execute the analysis of technical and economic problems, propose solutions, prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholder engagement and develop new tools, procedures, operating agreements and policy.
The Team The Operations & Asset Management Directorate within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. Ireland has a target to achieve 80% of our electricity to come from renewable resources by 2030 and to be net carbon neutral by 2050. The Operations & Asset Management Directorate is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development and enhancement of the all-island power system and the wholesale electricity market. Creating a culture of continuous improvement whilst maintaining operational resilience, that drives technical and process innovation is central to delivering on this role.
The Interconnection function is responsible for the operational activities associated with managing the 500 MW High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) East West interconnector (EWIC) to Wales on a 24 x 7 basis and the readiness activities associated with the proposed 700 MW Celtic Interconnector MW HVDC link between Ireland and France. This includes leading the delivery of transformational change in cross border markets, operational development and asset management, as well as identifying and supporting future Interconnector opportunities for the benefit of consumers.

About you Third level qualification in science, engineering, business, IT or other relevant discipline, with a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience, ideally in the electricity industry.Knowledge of electrical power systems and awareness of energy targets and ambitions for decarbonisation of the energy sector.Strong knowledge of wholesale power markets, market arrangements in the SEM, Great Britain, France and in other European countries.Ability to deliver medium/large projects.Excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery.Experience in a multidisciplinary team and excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities, coupled with the ability to make reasoned judgements based on available information in a changing and dynamic environment.Ability to conceive and introduce innovative ideas.Ability to translate policy and concepts into rules, codes and standards and vice versa.Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, capable of delivering shared goals with internal and external stakeholders through open dialogue, while also being able to define and guide own work under minimal supervision.Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.Passionate, engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company vision and strategy.Job Relationships Reporting to the Head of Interconnection, supported by a Team Lead.
