Job Title: Senior Database Systems Administrator Location: Dublin 1 or Co Mayo (3 days onsite/week)
Contract / Permanent: 12 Months with further extension
Role: The Clients PMO Unit requires a Senior Database Systems Administrator to join their team. The Database Systems Administrator will work with the wider PMO team to support existing legacy systems and where necessary work towards modernising existing systems.
Responsibilities:Supporting and customising data architecture associated with existing legacy solutions and websites (Access, SQL Server, DBASE, Oracle, MySQL etc.)Reverse engineering and documenting existing legacy systems to gain an understanding of data stores, data flows and data architectureAssisting in the migration of legacy databases and solutions to the cloud (Dataverse, Azure SQL Server, AWS etc.)Gaining an understanding of the various (legacy and third party) data sources in the Department and their underlying data and technologiesWorking with project teams to build data architecture and models to support end-to-end business solutionsContributing to discussions concerning the website database architecture.Qualifications:Strong theoretical base in Database development and management across multiple database platforms.Extensive experience migrating legacy on premise solutions to the cloud.Experience modelling data and the relationships between data using relevant tools.Acts as the senior responsible person with respect to database development on major client engagements.Experience in leading and developing robust database architecture.Experience Level Required:It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed has the equivalent of 7+ years of extensive professional experience in their specialized field (Database Systems Administrator).
It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed hold the following qualifications or equivalents: Professional Certification in SQL Server.
Key Deliverables:Design databases ensuring their stability, reliability and establishing best practices.Provide expertise in the full development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.Develop new database-centric functionality on existing software products.Create technical and architectural documentation and create technical instructions throughout Programme development.Troubleshoot changes/errors/modifications.Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a re-architecture and re-factoring of legacy systems.Ensure data consistency across the database and provision for data security and recovery control.Design schemes, tables, and servers and set permissions for users to access them.Ensure timely backups of all key database systems.Prepare and execute for D/R test plans as required.Installation support of Enterprise Manager.Cloning of Oracle test and train environment servers as required.Yearly reboots planned for after current financial year end.Oracle service requests updates and patches as needed.General troubleshooting issues on R12 Oracle applications and 19C database.Monthly data fixes as needed for application and database issues.Develop scripts to automate part of monthly user reporting.Ongoing liaison with ICT and OGCIO on technical issues.Daily monitoring of all systems.Yearly patch cycle for Oracle R12 application and database.Work with 3rd party support to implement monthly fixes for issues identified with bespoke software.Requirements:Experience supporting databases on multiple platforms and customising legacy Microsoft Access solutions.Experience re-engineering and migrating legacy on premise solutions to the cloud.Experience in the full development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing using best practices.Experience reverse engineering and documenting legacy systems.Experience working in a similar technical environment with Business Analysts, CRM Developers, Web Developers, Project Managers, etc.
