The Opportunity
We now seek an innovative, solution-focused, resilient and motivated Senior Engineer to join the Power System Insights and Research team and play a key role in the transition to a low carbon energy future. Reporting to the Head of Power System Insights and Research, the Senior Engineer will demonstrate an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environment. You will support the team lead in delivering on a range of initiatives relating to the promotion and coordination of innovation and research projects.
The Team
The Energy Research team is responsible for driving the Innovation & Research strategy for the entire organisation. To do this we work with a wide range of stakeholders, internally and externally, to carry out research and provide insights into technologies and trends that are both new and important to the company as we transition to a low carbon energy future. We lead the engagement with research and academic institutions, and we are building our research networks externally. We are responsible for reporting to the CRU annually on our innovation and research activity. We are responsible for running the internal Research Forum. The team aims to identify the most important areas for research and innovation and ensure they are being resourced properly and that objectives are being met in the research.
About you:
Successful candidates will have the following:
University degree in engineering or other equivalent degree, with a minimum of 6 years power system industry expertise and experienceTechnical knowledge of power systems and power marketsKnowledge of and interest in the applications of Artificial Intelligence for power systemsExperienced in writing and presenting technical reports and papersAn ability to comprehend and distil information from research publicationsAdvanced level of Excel for data analysisProject management skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audienceProven background of engaging in academic research Closing date for applications
