Senior Gameplay Technical Animator

*This position is based in our UK studio in Guildford*
Larian is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Animator, with a proven track record in the design of gameplay animation systems and blend trees. In this position, you are expected to work with animators, designers and programmers to develop and support workflows that empower us to reach our animation quality goals, while also achieving the best gameplay responsiveness and behavioral goals. It is important that you have good communication skills and be able to collaboratively work with peers.
RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop, test and maintain complex animation systems together with animators, gameplay programmers and other team members as requiredProvide technical support on the animation tools and editor to the Animation and Cinematics teamAssist in the design, integration and validation of animation assetsWork directly with Animation, Code and Design to achieve the look and feel of the desired animations style in-gameUnderstand and implement procedural animation systems to reduce workload and improve the visual quality our characters in-gameDebug animation graphs to solve possible gameplay animation issuesParticipate in and supervise integration of the animation assets into the game engineCollaborate to ensure compliance of animation features with technical, aesthetic and gameplay constraintsResearch and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in animation systemsSupport the Lead of the department in any ad hoc tasks and dutiesREQUIREMENTSA minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.Experience in AAA video game development, with a focus on creating and defining high-quality real-time animation systemsStrong and practical understanding of animation logic: node graphs, IK, animation trees and similar engine editors and technologies;Strong character animation skills and understanding of animation principles;Experience working with high-fidelity motion capture;Good understanding of rigging, skinning and related character technologies;Able to document and explain their work clearly and concisely;Team oriented and has a strong desire for collaborative participation in a team-based pipeline across different geographic locationsAble to take direction and feedback positively, adapt to change and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlinesEnthusiastic, methodical and organised approach to work with high quality standardsSense of initiative, originality and resourcefulness in problem solvingGood written and verbal communication skills (English is mandatory)NICE TO HAVESStrong knowledge of Autodesk Maya preferred, knowledge of Motionbuilder and similar packages is considered a bonusWe are looking for highly motivated individuals with ever-evolving skillsets and passion for player experience.
