This remote opportunity is open to candidates residing anywhere in Ireland or the UK VelocityEHS is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices by offering market-based salary ranges. The expected salary range for this position is between €67,350 and €88,150. The final offered salary will be based on candidate's proficiency in skill set, prior relevant experience, internal equity, market considerations, and other factors. This role is also eligible for our comprehensive benefits package. THE OPPORTUNITY: The Senior IT Security Engineer is a dynamic role responsible for fielding and monitoring network and security-related tickets while managing compliance tasks. This role plays a pivotal role in protecting data and infrastructure. The Senior IT Security Engineer has responsibilities where they will lead projects with people on technical and non-technical teams. This person will gain and share knowledge and experience with network, security engineering, data privacy, and compliance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct the assessment of and the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems and tools.Participate in and lead aspects of security incident response planning, training, and investigations.Manage and conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.Manage the processes for communicating findings from assessments to appropriate personnel and managing the mitigation and remediation processes.Provide support for compliance efforts by leading in the implementation and maintenance of security compliance frameworks and standards (such as SOC2, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.).Monitor and analyze security logs and alerts to identify potential threats or breaches.Assist in and make recommendations for the improvement of the configuration and management of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security devices.Manage processes and procedures to ensure that personnel responsible for patching and maintaining systems, software, and networks have timely access to information regarding potential issues and remediation steps.Conduct security awareness training and promote a culture of security within the organization.Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the secure configuration and maintenance of systems, software, and networks.Assist in compliance audits and assessments, including preparing documentation and evidence to demonstrate adherence to security controls and requirements.Manage security vendors and tools including negotiations for purchases and renewals of products.Stay updated and present to the team and other departments on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing programs and tools to maintain a cost-effective program.Enhance and raise the cultural awareness of information security, privacy, and compliance within the organization.Minimum Skills and Qualifications: Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.Advanced knowledge of networking and/or software development as well as general IT principles.Adaptable and able to work independently or within a team.A continuous learning mindset.Ability to communicate with both Technical and Non-Technical staff.5-8 years of experience in IT Security or similar.Experience with SIEM tools and architecture.Familiarity with tools and techniques for penetration testing or security assessment.Experience with encryption tools and techniques.Security Operations Center experience.Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Leading small teams.Leading small to midsized projects.Presentation to midsized and large audiences.We welcome and encourage diversity in the workplace.
