Charlene Cooke Healthcare Recruitment is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Scientist in Clinical Chemistry to join a JCI-accredited hospital in North Dublin.
In this role, you'll work under the guidance of a highly supportive and positive Laboratory Manager, who cultivates a collaborative and empowering work environment.
Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Medical Scientist in Clinical Chemistry to join a leading private hospital in Dublin.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Clinical Chemistry section within the laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Clinical Chemistry, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Clinical Chemistry section within the laboratory, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely test results.
Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the laboratory services Perform complex laboratory analyses in Clinical Chemistry, ensuring precision and compliance with established protocols Manage the analysers and the changes Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the laboratory, ensuring minimal downtime Validate and verify new testing methods, ensuring their accuracy and reliability Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards of laboratory practice Ensure compliance with ISO standards, INAB accreditation, and other regulatory requirements.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs and audits.
Work closely with consultants to provide expert advice on the interpretation of test results.
Assist in the development and implementation of new diagnostic tests to meet patient needs.
Qualifications: BSc in Medical Science or equivalent.
A Masters Degree or equivalent specialisation in Clinical Chemistry is highly desirable.
Current registration with CORU or eligibility for registration is required.
Have attained the Fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science (Awarded prior to 1999).
And 4 years of post-qualification experience as a Medical Scientist in Clinical Chemistry, within a clinical diagnostic laboratory.
Demonstrated experience in managing quality control processes and compliance with ISO standards.
Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and various diagnostic equipment in Clinical Chemistry.
Up to date knowledge of current best practices and developments in Clinical Chemistry.
Ability to supervise and motivate staff to reach their potential.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information to non-specialists.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
