Senior Orthoptist Required - Regional Hospital Mullingar Cpl in partnership with the HSE are seeking a Senior Orthoptist to join the team in Regional Hospital Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

Job Responsibilities: The person appointed to this post will work within Regional Hospital Mullingar and the Community as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to patient care. Ophthalmology is a very important service within the Longford / Westmeath area. The primary aim of the Ophthalmic Service is to promote good ophthalmic health and quality of life for all categories / ages of patients who attend the service. The Senior Orthoptist has a vital role to play in providing a comprehensive and high-quality Ophthalmic Service to patients locally in conjunction with other members of the Ophthalmic Team. The Senior Orthoptist post holder for Longford / Westmeath will be based within the Eye Department of Regional Hospital Mullingar with outreach clinics in Longford and Athlone as required. To conduct Orthoptic assessment and treatments for children and adults across the three sites of Mullingar, Longford, and Athlone. 35 Hours per week. The Candidate: Candidates must have at the latest date of application: Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition possess: B.Sc (Hons) Orthoptics from Glasgow Caledonian University. or B.Sc (Hons) Orthoptics from the University of Liverpool. or BMed Sci (Hons) Orthoptics from the University of Sheffield. or A validated qualification equivalent to (i) or (ii) or (iii) above. or Be registered as an Orthoptist with the Health & Care Professionals Council UK (HCPC). and Candidates must have 3 years full-time post qualification clinical experience. and Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
