The Role:Reporting to the Process Safety Manager, the Senior Process Safety Engineer will assist in the development and management of the Process Safety Framework within GNI. Process Safety is a collective name for the measures, systems, procedures or policies which prevent incidents and/or protect people/environment from the effects of Major Accidents. The role will cover both distribution and transmission assets.
Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for assisting in the development and implementing the Process Safety FrameworkReport on leading and lagging Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPIs). Responsible for analysing data from both internal and external systems and compiling that data to assess and report on Process Safety measuresContinuously review and enhance PSPI data sets, data quality, collection/ collation efficiencies and means of reportingResponsible for providing leadership and guidance to key stakeholders on Process Safety related topicsDrive the Process Safety input to the design phase of GNI projectsProvide Process Safety input to HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA and other risk assessment studies for GNI.Deriving trends and key data statistics on which policy decisions will be madeLead and drive Process Safety auditsEnsure GNI's integrated audit programme covers all the key Process Safety risksLead process safety incident investigationsPropose, develop and implement improvements and modifications from a Process Safety perspective throughout the companyIncrease awareness within the business in relation to Process Safety legislation and best practice requirementsAttend hazardous industry process safety working groups to learn best practice and implement within GNIProvide periodic support to other areas of the process safety team, such as third party damage prevention/ liaison processesPerforming other duties as may be assigned from time to time.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:Degree in Engineering or equivalent.A minimum of 5 years technical experience with a working knowledge of Transmission and/or Distribution natural gas processes and engineering.Working knowledge of process safety design activities such as safety equipment layout, hazardous area classification, Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability Study HAZOP, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) allocation assessmentsA good understanding in process safety related responsibilities in risk assessment and Pressure System RegulationsHave excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions.Strong report writing and document preparation skills.Knowledge of safety management and risk assessment principlesProven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.Ability to set up ongoing procedures to collect and review information as needed to be successful in the role.Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job.Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results.Full, clean Irish driving licenceApplications, including current Curriculum Vitae, should be emailed to the following address stating the job title and reference number in the subject line of your email: ******
