Senior Psychologist - Irish Prison Service – Dublin Senior Psychologist required for locum with Irish Prison Service, Dublin.
This will be a split position based on two sites, Mountjoy Prison High Support Unit and Cloverhill prison.
The client group includes people who are mentally unwell in prisons, including those who are awaiting a bed or returning from the National Forensic Mental Health Service as a step down.
Mountjoy prison is a closed, medium security prison for adult males. It is the main committal prison for Dublin city and county. Cloverhill prison is a closed, medium security prison for adult males, which primarily caters for remand prisoners committed from the Leinster area.
Responsibilities: Completion and/or supervision of comprehensive assessments and formulation of individuals referred to the psychology service.Lead on developing behaviour monitoring procedures for each individual.Provide significant specialist contribution to the multi-disciplinary Care and Management Planning for each person, ensuring that recommendations are linked to the person's formulation.Engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions as recommended in the Care and Management Plan.Assess and intervene with people referred to the IPS Psychology Service in relation to mental health difficulties and offence-specific needs.Provide time-limited community intervention(s) to support a client's transition from custody to community where clinically appropriate.Essential qualifications and competencies: Be eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).(i) Hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognized by PSI; or (ii) Hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology recognized by PSI.Hold a minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience as a Psychologist.Desirable but not essential: Experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and offence-related difficulties with a forensic population in a group setting.Experience providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.Further therapeutic or research qualifications.For further information, please contact Brian Murray on 01 482 5421 / 087 222 6752 or email ******
