Title:SeniorResearcher,TSAF Micro-credentials Department:FacultyofBusinessandHumanities Contract:FixedTermWhole-Timeto30June2026 Location:MTUsCorkorKerryCampuses Reporting to:HeadofFacultyofBusinessand Humanities Project Overview and Context The Technological Sector Advancement Fund (TSAF) is a €50 million HEA fund providing targetedsupportforinitiatives thatarecriticaltothestrategicdevelopmentoftheTechnologicalUniversity sector.
In December 20204, MTU got confirmation that our application was successful, and we secured €7.5m from this fund.This project focuses on two of our strategic objectives: Learner Education and Experience and People and Community.
OneofMTUsStrategicPrioritiesistoempowerlearnerstomakeinformedchoicesthroughout their education and this TSAF project funding will enhance this.
This post will focus on Work Package 2 of the TSAF project.
The successful candidate will review the provision and availability of Micro-credentialswith a view to enhancing student choice.
Specific deliverables will include (i) Review current offerings regarding micro- credentials in University programmes (ii) Consult with stakeholders including industry and identify current opportunities for development.
(iii) Develop a number of micro-credentials where delivery is non-traditional and/or intensive.
Duties of the Post Thesuccessfulcandidatewillbeanexperiencedandambitiousresearcherwithaminimumof a PhD or with a PhD near completion.
The successful candidate will have experience of working on research projects andachievingdeliverables.Theappointedcandidatewillwork under thesupervision of theHead of Faculty of Business &Humanities and willbebased at Munster Technological University.
Maindutiesandresponsibilitieswillinclude,butnotlimitedto: Oversee administrative and management tasks related to the research associated with this work package Leadandco-ordinateresearchactivities,includingplanning,organising andanalysis within the overall scope of a research project Liaisewithindustrytoassesstheirneedsremicro-credentials Disseminate the outcomes of the research, including peer-reviewed academic publications of international standing where appropriate Takea leadingrolein promotingthisworkpackageinternallyandexternallyand attend meetings or represent MTU as required Engageinappropriatetrainingandprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiesas required by the line manager.
