Senior Underwriter – Medical MalpracticeRole: Senior Underwriter-Medical Malpractice
Senior Underwriter wanted for Medical Malpractice role based in Dublin City Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior Underwriter to join our client, an ambitious MGA entering the Medical Malpractice sector.
This role offers the opportunity to build and shape a new Medical Malpractice portfolio, starting with the Irish market and expanding across Europe.
Supported by an established underwriting network, this stand-alone position is ideal for a driven underwriter looking to create a meaningful impact in a niche, high-growth area.
The role includes a hybrid work arrangement (two days in the office weekly) and a competitive benefits package.
Your Role: Portfolio Development: Take ownership of the Medical Malpractice portfolio, establishing it as a leading product line within the Irish market and positioning it for European expansion.Underwriting Strategy: Define underwriting guidelines and risk appetite specific to Medical Malpractice, creating pricing models that align with both local and international market trends.Market Engagement: Forge strong connections within a broad network of brokers and MGAs across Ireland and Europe to secure profitable business and drive portfolio growth.Risk and Trend Analysis: Monitor the competitive landscape and regulatory shifts to adjust underwriting approaches and ensure sustained portfolio profitability.Relationship Building: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including reinsurers, to align on risk strategies and ensure the ongoing support needed to drive growth in this sector.Your Skills: Underwriting Expertise: Substantial experience in Medical Malpractice underwriting or similar high-risk/speciality lines, ideally within an MGA or insurer setting.Autonomy and Initiative: A track record of successfully operating in a stand-alone or pioneering role, with a proactive approach to establishing and scaling new business lines.Market Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the Irish insurance landscape; exposure to European markets is highly desirable.Strategic Vision: Analytical and forward-thinking, with a deep understanding of pricing and risk factors specific to specialty insurance.Relationship Management: Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills, critical for developing and maintaining key partnerships in a competitive sector.Should this position be of interest to you please forward your CV or alternatively call Tadhg at 01 9052560.
