Now let us tell you about the role: As the Environmental Officer you shall support the SHEQ Manager to develop the business on Occupational Environmental and Safety & Health matters. Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the SHEQ Officer will coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Company's Environmental and Health & Safety policies.
General Responsibilities: Provide support in developing, implementing, and reviewing policies and procedures relating to the company's integrated management system for environmental matters.Monitor the effectiveness of environmental policies and procedures.Establish Safe Systems of Work as and when required. Monitor the implementation of Safe Systems of Work and protocols to ensure continuous improvement.Provide support in developing, reviewing, and monitoring the Environmental plan, objectives, and targets.Assist in implementing environmental risk management projects and initiatives.Address areas of poor performance and assess compliance requirements relevant to the company.Liaise with employees at all levels.Conduct site/office inspections and system audits (where trained).Plan and coordinate environmental-related training.Conduct Environmental and H&S Committee Meetings and attend meetings on behalf of the department – including Management meetings.Coordinate and participate in investigations following an accident, incident, near miss, or non-conformance. Compile and submit investigation reports to the SHEQ Manager.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly environmental reports, statistics, and presentations related to performance.Work closely with Managers and Supervisors to ensure that risk assessments are being completed by the on-site team.Conduct assessments of suppliers and contractors as required.Develop, review, and monitor the H&S and environmental culture.Assist in developing and implementing emergency response procedures and evacuation plans on-site and in offices. Ensure these plans are reviewed and updated regularly.Maintain the Action Tracker for Corrective Actions. Follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented where necessary and requirements are complied with.Monitor contractor performance and work sites by conducting site visits and audits and compiling relevant reports. Escalate matters of continuous non-conformance.Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by management.Additional Training: You will be expected to complete a Health and Safety training course provided by the company.
