Job Description: We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our organisation and assist the service teams in their efforts to improve service reliability, and scale up the business.
We expect the successful candidate to be the local SRE lead and to work closely with the service architects to improve the existing solution, and deal with the many complexities around Observability, Supportability, Scalability and Reliability.
The Role: This position is for an Engineer in the Galway site to support the development teams there.
Reporting remotely to the SRE Manager, the SRE Engineer will form part of the engineering teams and drive SRE best practices into the development work.
The SRE Engineer can and should participate directly in development work when it comes to areas within SRE purview e.g.
implementing traces / monitors to ensure we have key metrics available or automating day-N operations.
You will need to be able to help drive architectural and operational change and be permanently looking for ways to improve our solution.
You should be a DevOps evangelist with a background in software development and architecture who can drive SRE initiatives and culture across our organization.
This includes working with our worldwide development teams to ensure delivery of reliable and resilient services for our customers.
The ideal candidate will have cloud development experience with a history of successful deployment of public microservices at scale - someone with authority and a passion for improving the entire deployment, monitoring and maintenance phase of microservices.
Experience: The successful candidate for this role must have the following: Experience in cloud-based or open-source software developmentExperience with the adoption of robust, scalable monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or similar toolingExperience with automated CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Deployment) tools and processes such as CircleCI, Github Actions, GitOps...Experience defining and managing infrastructure with code (scripting, terraform, ansible, salt...)Understanding of container orchestration technologies such as KubernetesAn understanding of SRE and ideally some experience in the role.Differentiating Experience may include: Experience working with teams across multiple geographies.Experience of cloud-based software developmentExperience developing and managing Kubernetes servicesExperience developing with one or more languages such as Golang, Python, Java, etc.Experience with microservice architecture and REST APIs.Successful track record of improving quality or DevOps process across multiple teams using metrics, coaching, training, etc.Experience with Security investigations or mitigation projects.Experience with SAPExperience with VMwareEducation: Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experienceAdditional Skills: Cloud Architectures, Cross Domain Knowledge, Design Thinking, Development Fundamentals, DevOps, Distributed Computing, Microservices Fluency, Full Stack Development, Release Management, Security-First Mindset, User Experience (UX)
