Position: Site Supervisor

Reporting to: Contract Manager

Position: Site Supervisor UCD (100% Site Based)

Role/Goals: To undertake the development and running of an existing section of our maintenance business in conjunction with the Contracts and Operational Managers. This role will also involve the use of machinery and equipment and will include physical exertion (manual handling etc.) on a daily basis.

Duties Include: Daily management of crews on site. Work as part of an onsite team to ensure the quality of work is delivered to an excellent standard and that the work completed is carried out in an efficient and timely manner. Scheduling of materials and plant/machinery for site. Managing the safety of colleagues on site. Supervision of sub-contractors. Quality control/monitoring of incoming materials. Read, understand and build as per landscape plans/drawings. Ensuring the care and maintenance of plant and machinery whilst on site. Generating reports, including time sheets, machinery checklists, H&S reports etc. Winter maintenance works during winter periods. (early morning starts). Lawn care – mowing, strimming and edging. Shrub and hedge pruning and maintenance. Tree maintenance. Weed control and herbicide application. Litter and debris collection. Seeding and turfing of lawns. Paving/light civil works. Topsoiling. Tree and shrub planting. Manage any incoming queries, tasks from clients. Review for requests and organise work plus the supervision of maintenance works. The liaison of work with the client is one of the most important aspects of the Contract Supervisor's role and he/she should be aware that the company's image and credibility will largely be determined by the Supervisors character and approach. Ensure staff are carrying out work in accordance with the scope and schedules of works. All requested information and figures must be compiled and available for weekly maintenance meeting. Management: Take charge of the day-to-day supervision of work as required by the contract. Liaison: The Contracts Supervisor will liaise on a day-to day basis with the Contract Manager and Operational Manager for the specific site to: Agree programmes of work Agree any additional works to be carried out. Discuss technical matters Inspect and certify completed works Resolve any problems Operatives: The supervisor will draw up daily and weekly schedules for work. Ensure that all persons are present on site at the appointed times. Instruct gangs on the work to be undertaken and inspect as it progresses. The supervisor may be required to undertake practical work himself/herself. The nature and the amount of practical work will vary according to the season, but he/she will specifically need to act as a replacement for employees who are absent or give emergency cover required by the client. Personnel: The supervisor shall have authority to recruit weekly paid employees in line with company procedures after consultation with the Contracts Manager / HR Manager. Wages shall be in line with the company wage structure. Annual review of staff must be carried out in accordance with company procedures. Dismissals: The supervisor will not have the authority to dismiss employees under his direct charge. All dismissals are subject to company procedures. All dismissals must be authorised by your Contract Manager or Director. Health & Safety Implementation and Quality Control/Monitoring Ensure all staff operate under a safe operating system Ensure all toolbox talks and carried out by Supervisors. Ensure site specific Health & Safety plans are in place. Site Orientation Ensure all staff are wearing appropriate PPE at all times. Ensure all staff have been trained in the use of appropriate machinery Carry out spot checks on sites ensuring that machinery use is in accordance with the companies Health & Safety policy. Responsibilities: Adhering to Company policies and procedures in relation to all aspects of Health and Safety. Adhering to clients site rules and regulations in general and particularly in relation to Health and Safety. Organise and plan each day with team members in relation to resources. Assist and develop members of the team. Using innovative skill to ensure a creative way of working. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and customers on site. Ensure all work completed is to a high standard as expected by SAP Landscapes. Ensure collection and filing of maintenance reports is carried out for supervised sites. Ensure reports are collected weekly and given to the maintenance administrator i.e. fleet, wages, waste and landscape maintenance reports. Fleet management – monitoring of maintenance of vehicles Desired Experience and Skills Minimum Diploma in Horticultural Studies or 5/10 years Landscaping / Horticultural experience. Excellent plant knowledge and the ability to forecast and visualise a completed project. Obtain strong problem-solving skills and be flexible in your approach to working. Excellent planning and time management skills, in order to demonstrate the ways of working that is expected from crew – lead by example. Ability to work on own initiative and strive under pressure when working to deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build up strong relationships with existing clients and potential new customers.
