Candidates should demonstrate organisational skills together with up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and practice in services for people with intellectual disabilities, be highly motivated, flexible and committed to working as part of a team.
Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of safeguarding and reporting structures to the HSE and HIQA.
Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment as it relates to the provision of services to people who have intellectual disability.
Candidates must hold a full clean driving licence with access to their own vehicle.
Candidates must have excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills inclusive of IT management based data systems.

The services include educational, day, residential, respite and Homeshare.
This role encompasses the delivery of social work services, advocating, working with individuals with complex needs & safeguarding.
The Social Work Team leader will ensure that their day to day management of social work services reflects the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services and will foster and promote this vision in their relationships with individuals supported, their families, staff and members of the community.

Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
Main duties and functions: The role of Social Work Team Leader is as follows: To Promote and support team development.
To carry a social work case load in the Adult Services as required.
To receive referrals, assess needs for social work, meet identified need using appropriate social work methods and practical services.
To provide supervision to the Social Workers in the Brothers of Charity Services Clare To attend team meetings and reviews as required.
To promote appropriate service innovations To ensure and plan for the provision of efficient and effective social work service to individuals and their families through the establishment of clear team goals within the social work team and the appropriate organisation of day-to-day operations carried out by social workers To promote adherence to the Brothers of Charity Services Policies and Procedures To document emerging trends and service needs and keep management informed of these trends.
To co-ordinate ongoing development plans for the service and advocate for resources and identify unmet needs.
To promote the Brothers of Charity Services commitment to community services and to support a network of community partnerships.
To ensure the rights of individuals and their families are respected Deputise for the Designated Officer as required.
To attend regular supervision meetings with the Principal Social Worker To maintain up-to-date records and reports in accordance with the principles of the social work profession and provide relevant information and reports when required.
To initiate, participate and co-operate in relevant research.
To facilitate and encourage opportunities on the data collection and training and development of relevant and appropriate new applications and new techniques.
To liaise with the HSE and other relevant statutory and voluntary organizations To contribute to the development of policies and procedures in line with good practice within the department.
To deliver training To promote dignity at work and show respect to service users, colleagues and stakeholders in the course of duty.
To personally co-operate and engage with all mandatory training and ensure the participation of the social work staff in mandatory training.
To perform such other duties assigned from time to time by the Service Manager.
As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Service are likely to change with the ongoing needs of the individuals and service development, staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as the service needs demand.

It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and service user demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this.
