BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND LIMERICK REGION Applications are invited for the following position: SOCIAL WORKER (PQ) Fixed Term Part Time 2 year contract 21 hours per week LOCATION: LIMERICK Social Worker required to join multidisciplinary team to provide services to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families Essential: Have a NQSW or CQSW or a Letter of Accreditation issued by the National Social Work Qualifications Board (NSWQB) and be registered with CORU and meet their Continuing Professional Development Standards and Requirements.
Possess a Full Clean Drivers License and access to your own car Capable of working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen to develop professional skills Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills Desirable: 1 year post qualification experience in the disability sector.

Works With: Service Users and families Social Work Department Social Work Team Leader Multidisciplinary Teams Team Leaders/Managers Designated Officer Relevant External Organisations Qualifications: Candidates must have a NQSW or CQSW or a Letter of Accreditation issued by the National Social Work Qualifications Board (NSWQB) and be registered with CORU and meet their Continuing Professional Development Standards and Requirements.
Candidates should demonstrate good team work skills, communication and organisational skills together with up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and practice in Services for people with intellectual disabilities, be highly motivated, flexible and committed to working as part of a team.
Experience: It is desirable that candidates have one years post qualification experience.
Tenure: This position is temporary part time 2 year contract Hours of work: 21 hours per week Annual Leave: 27 days per annum.
Remuneration: €47,648 - €68,851 Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post.
The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.
JOB DESCRIPTON The role of the Social Work in this organisation is to work in partnership with individuals that use the service, their families, carers, staff and service providers.
The purpose of intervention/assessment is to identify needs, to facilitate emotional and practical support and empower service users and their families to enhance their quality of life and to live the life they choose.
A key component of this role is to safeguard vulnerable adults from abuse.
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland model of Service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their outlook and working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Specific Conditions: Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to support them to live a life of their choosing.
Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person.
Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence Principal duties and Responsibilities of the role: Plan, manage and provide an efficient and effective social work service to adults with a Intellectual Disabilities Ensure the rights of service users and their families are respected.
Provide appropriate therapeutic services, practical support and information to persons who receive our services.
Supervise the implementation of the agreed personal lifestyle plans and provide family support as required.
Support service users to become full participants in their local communities Identify unmet needs and to make recommendations to further the development of the services and promote the provision of appropriate resources and facilities.
To provide Social Work Assessments and partake in multi-disciplinary assessment reports To maintain accurate assessment reports, intervention plans, and progress notes on service users.
Keep up to date records on all service user interventions in accordance with social work principles and in line with agency policy.
Maintain statistical records and other reports as required by management.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to maintain and promote good communication and good relationships with other disciplines within the service.
To liaise with the H.S.E and other relevant statutory and voluntary organisations as appropriate.
Have a good working knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations governing your practice and keep up with any changes in these.
Act in accordance with the Brothers of Charity Ireland, Limerick Region, operational guidelines, policies and procedures at all times.
Facilitate group sessions for Service Users.
Participate in relevant research ethically Participate in relevant training and further education as required.
Attend regular Professional Support and Supervision with the appointed Social Worker.
To provide training in the area of Protection of Vulnerable Adults as prescribed by the HSE and Brothers of Charity Services Ireland Limerick Region.
Plan and promote the development of new models of service within Adult Services.
Facilitate co-ordination, co-operation, liaison and communication across multidisciplinary teams and programmes within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, Limerick Region, Adult Services.
To ensure that high professional standards and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
Promote and facilitate community liaison including advocacy, citizen advocacy and promoting and maintaining family contact for service users.
Promote dignity at work and show respect to Service Users, colleagues and stakeholders in the course of duty.
To perform such other duties assigned from time to time by the Team Leader.
All duties must be carried out in person at all times.
As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Service are likely to change with the ongoing needs of the clients and service development, staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as the service needs demand.
The role of the post holder will not be limited by reference to this job description.
It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and service user demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this.
