Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Software Developer Role
IBM Galway is looking to recruit highly motivated, technically gifted, innovative and enthusiastic candidates to take part in it's under graduate program in a Software engineering role. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work as an integral member of one of our software teams working in the IBM Cyber Security division. They will gain valuable insight into the inner workings of a successful software development team in one of the world's largest and most successful software companies.
Candidates should display a working knowledge of programming languages such as Java & JavaScript as well as good problem-solving skills. The intern program in IBM Galway has been running for a number of years with some interns joining IBM full time.
Technologies:
There will be scope within the role for you to get exposure to the following development and automation technologies among others:
• Java, JavaScript, Angular, Node
• Relational Databases, Elasticsearch
• Selenium, Grunt, Groovy, Jenkins
Selected candidates will be embedded in the day to day workings of an Agile SCRUM team.
Responsibilities:
- Working in an agile manner as part of a SCRUM team where you will engage with a scrum master and give daily updates to the team on your progress
- With Mentorship from a senior team member you will work on all aspects of the delivery of any feature you are working on
- Delivering solutions that meet the highest quality and usability standards while also scaling to the demands of the largest customers.
- Defining functional and technical requirements in coordination with product stakeholders and architects
- Working with QA to ensure we meet the highest quality standards.
- Providing estimates to project management.
- Coordinating all work involved in the delivery of a feature across multiple sprints and stories.
- Reporting accurately, timely, and concisely on progress and issues, whether in meetings or as issues arise.
- Collaborating with customers or those engaged in customer related activities to help resolve any customer issues and provide pro-active assistance to customers as they embark on new projects
- Demonstrating excellent written and verbal skills as you communicate with the globally distributed organisation and customer base.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise You should be interested in taking a year out as part of your degree.You must be on target for at least a 2:1 in your honours degree.You must also be in your penultimate year of study.An interest in technology and how it can change business.
