Post 2169 Specialist Medical Officer Medical Department Part-time 0.5 WTE (17.5 hours per week) Temporary Specified Purpose Cork Centre The IBTS is currently recruiting a part-time, temporary specified purpose, Specialist Medical Officer based in the Medical Department, Cork Centre. The SpMO role plays a key role in Service Delivery in MRTC liaising with all departments and staff grades. Working within the relevant regulations, policies and procedures, current organisation of duties, in a Quality Management Framework and under the supervision of the Consultant Haematologist, your responsibilities will include: expert medical donor and donation management (Whole Blood and Component by Apheresis), Therapeutic Apheresis Service, Diagnostic (Immunohaematology) Services, Support of Clinical Transfusion Practice (Hospital Liaison), Look-back and Service Development. You will be required to maintain registration with the Irish Medical Council. Essential Criteria: Registered Medical Practitioner with the Irish Medical Council At least 3 years satisfactory post registration experience in clinical care of patients in the hospital setting Proficiency in English language both oral and written. Proficiency in use of Information Technology Desirable Criteria: CTM or MRCPI or equivalent (or proleptic on the basis that you gain a post graduate qualification in Transfusion Medicine within 3 years) Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative. Experience in Transfusion Medicine Practice. Understanding of Quality Management. Auditor (training can be provided) The salary scale attached to the post is the Snr Area Medical Officer scale €91,114 to €110,183 (incl. LSI) pro rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience. The closing date for receipt of applications is 23.45 hrs (Irish Time) on 28th August 2024.
