We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Specialist in Feeding, Eating Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS) to join our team in CHO 1 Cavan.
Contract Type: Permanent Full time
Salary Scale: €64,123 to €74,738 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments)
Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days pro rata per annum and proportionately less for less than 12 months service
Overview of the Post: To provide a high standard Speech & Language therapy service to support primary therapists and service users & families in CHO 1 Cavan including advanced and specialised work. Use clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the Speech & Language Therapy team and other staff, whilst maintaining a clinical caseload on the Children's Disability Network Team. To participate in ongoing audit and appropriate work-related research/evaluation projects in areas relevant to the clinical field. Acting as a positive and supportive team leader in their specialty with strong leadership skills. Applying advanced specialist knowledge and skills in the area of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS). Acting in an advanced clinical advisory role to own colleagues within own organisation. The successful candidate will have: Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Have 5 years full time (or equivalent) post qualification clinical experience, of which 4 years full time (or equivalent) must be consecutive in the required area of specialism. Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism. Professional Development and Practice: Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of postgraduate qualifications or relevant courses. Demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching, and research. Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership, and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Annual Registration: On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland. Additional Requirements:
Be employed as a Senior Speech & Language Therapist working with a disability service with extensive experience in the specialism of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS). 5 years' experience in the area of Paediatric (0 – 18 years) disability service for children with complex needs. Minimum of 5 years' experience, 4 of which must include demonstrated experience working in the area of Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (FEDS). Must be eligible to work in the state. Valid driving licence for within the state/jurisdiction with access to own transport in order to deliver services across a large geographical area. Experience and/or training in clinical supervision. Group work. Supervision of other staff and students. Speech & Language caseload management. Experience of delivering education and/or conducting research. Experience in service development and practice standards development. Experience in coordinating clinics and leading and working at a consultative level in clinics alongside consultant and other lead therapists.
