Sr. Software Development Engineer, Japan Pricing and PromotionsThe Amazon JP Pricing and Promotions team is seeking a talented, passionate software development engineer to create feature innovations to improve the shopping experience with a particular focus on the pricing and promotion offerings challenges for Japanese customers.
The Pricing and Promotions team is part of the greater Japan Store Tech, a global software development group.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and work with a team of extremely talented engineers. Given that we explore new and exciting areas, you will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept. You will help invent new features, design systems, develop and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of our initiatives, you'll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, haven't been solved at scale before. Key job responsibilitiesOn a daily basis, you will have the opportunity to:
Design distributed, multi-tiered systems ranging from small-to-large scale.Own the full software lifecycle from development, testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, continuous improvement and scaling.Understand business goals and create functional requirements and project schedules together with business teams.Develop new and/or build on existing systems effectively, improving and evolving systems for robustness and high performance.Lead a team of effective and formidable engineers whilst navigating several development terrains.Take ownership for ensuring sanity of architecture, operational excellence and quality and insisting on the highest standards while working with other software teams.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Ability to design and deliver scalable software and knows SOA
- 6+ years professional experience in software development
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented principles and complexity analysis
- Proficiency in problem-solving and analytic ability
- Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Java, C++, C, or C#
- Ability to communicate in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with web-service based systems and enterprise level system development
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
