Our Engineering team is looking for the right teammate to support the start-up of our first European manufacturing site in Athenry. As a Staff Automation Engineer, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the machine controls, sensors, and machine vision used in Dexcom's automated manufacturing and testing equipment. You will work closely with internal and external equipment suppliers to ensure control hardware and software are implemented to provide reliable and robust automated manufacturing equipment solutions. You will also provide SME support to the replication, implementation, validation, and transfer of these systems into various internal and external manufacturing sites.
Where you come in: You will be responsible for providing technical knowledge and leadership in the areas of controls, sensor technologies, and various inspection systems that are used in the development and implementation of automated manufacturing lines.You will provide technical leadership and support to the improvement, installation, start-up, validation, and transfer of replicant automated manufacturing equipment.You will assess the efficacy, robustness, and reliability of controls, sensor, and inspection hardware/software solutions, proposing improvements where necessary.You will coach and mentor junior controls engineers.You will oversee the resolution of technical issues related to controls, machine vision, servo systems, and various sensor technologies.You will provide technical input into the design of new automation equipment as needed.You will manage multiple automated manufacturing equipment projects simultaneously.You will ensure compliance with Dexcom's quality systems requirements in generating or updating equipment/automation documentation.You will implement a pro-active approach to identify potential risks, assess their impact, and develop/implement mitigations.You will drive the implementation of six sigma methodology within your team.What makes you successful: A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 13 years related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD with relevant experience.A strong background in implementing and supporting controls systems, HMI's, sensor technology, servo drive technology, and machine vision systems into automated manufacturing equipment.Experience in medical device manufacturing.Experience supporting the qualification/validation of automated manufacturing equipment.Experience programming or interfacing with robotic systems.The ability to adapt to fast-moving and changing environments.Experience using and developing complex automated systems on Allen Bradley PLC controls platform.Excellent technical problem solving and risk management skills.A strong understanding of risk management policies and procedures associated with medical device manufacturing.Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and maintain a strong focus on quality and accuracy.Strong technical leadership and collaborative skills.Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.The ability to travel to other supplier and/or manufacturing sites, if necessary.Six Sigma training and Belt certification.What you'll get: A front row seat to life-changing CGM technology.A full and comprehensive benefits program.Growth opportunities on a global scale.Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.Travel Required: 10-25%
