Sr. Tax Manager (International Tax Risk Management)

About the role This Senior Manager of Global Tax Risk Management will be a key member of the Tax Team acting as a subject matter expert for internal and external tax risk matters for Gartner's worldwide operations. The successful candidate will deal with Global Tax Authority inquiries and audits and operational tax enquiries from the business. This important position will partner with several interdepartmental teams such as Legal, Finance, Revenue and Deal Operations and will also collaborate with tax team members on a number of department mission critical priorities.
What you'll do Assisting and supporting the Global Tax Risk Management strategy/domainCollaborating with members of the global organization to collect appropriate and relevant information for tax inquiries/requestsManaging the flow of information to external advisors and government auditorsManaging the relationships with external advisors and government auditors to control the scope, direction, and strategy of the auditConducting research and provision of detailed analysis of global tax legislative changes impacting the companyPartnering with local country Finance+ and Revenue and Deal Operations (RDO) teams to assist with operational tax queries from clientsAdvising business on withholding obligations on payments made to vendors and the taxes that need to be recovered from our customersWorking knowledge of value added tax (VAT) obligations to be responsive to inquiriesReviewing (ad hoc basis) customer and vendor contracts as well as contractual terms & conditions related to company service agreements to support order management and/or legal teamsAssisting with full participation in other assigned special tax projectsWhat you'll need Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeLawyer or Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax ConsultantIn-depth knowledge of international direct taxationWorking knowledge of global indirect taxationMin 8+ years' experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) and/or multi-national corporation (MNC) a mustExperience with managing and executing the international tax audit defense process, dealing with foreign tax authorities, managing outside counsel, and successful experience with negotiation and execution of audit settlement/closing agreementsKnowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is requiredKnowledge of US GAAP is advantageous but not a prerequisiteAbility to successfully lead and effectively manage a team, delegate assignments, and empower team membersWillingness and ability to work in a collaborative mannerAbility to be objective and provide clear and independent input and analysisExudes a positive and winning attitudeProactive self-starter, able to work on own initiative in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanorWhat we offer In addition to an outstanding work environment with rapid advancement potential, Gartner associates enjoy exceptional compensation and benefits, including:
