We are seeking an experienced Operations Support Engineer with advanced expertise in Linux, virtualization technologies, enterprise storage, and Splunk queries. The role will support operational infrastructure and troubleshoot complex issues across various technical domains, ensuring high availability and performance of enterprise systems. A basic to intermediate understanding of hardware engineering design flows, licensing backends, display technologies (e.g., ETX), grid computing, is essential.
Through the development and implementation of monitoring, automation, and escalation patterns. The role involves designing and maintaining proactive solutions that optimize system performance, automate incident responses, and minimize downtime, ensuring the highest standards of availability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement advanced monitoring solutions to track system health, detect anomalies, and proactively address issues before they impact operations.Design and deploy automation workflows to streamline incident response, system recovery, and routine maintenance, reducing manual intervention.Create and refine escalation patterns and processes, ensuring efficient resolution paths and minimizing operational disruption.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously enhance and scale proactive operational strategies.Linux Systems Management: Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability across the infrastructure. Implement automation and scripting to enhance operational efficiency.Virtualization Technologies: Manage and support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM), ensuring resource allocation, scaling, and system stability. Monitor virtual environments and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime.Splunk Query Support: Develop and run advanced Splunk queries to monitor system performance, generate reports, and troubleshoot operational issues. Use Splunk insights for proactive system improvements.Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to ETX display technologies, grid computing environments, GPU computing setups, and licensing backend systems. Provide support for infrastructure integration with hardware design flows.Collaboration with Global Teams: Coordinate with Global COs and COOs to align operational strategies, ensure consistent system performance, and contribute to global initiatives. Act as a point of escalation for critical infrastructure issues.Minimum Qualifications: • 4+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
OR
7+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor's degree.
Physical Requirements: • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 20 lbs.
Requirements 5+ years of experience in operations support with advanced skills in Linux, virtualization technologies, and enterprise storage management.Expertise in developing and deploying monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Nagios) and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).Proficiency in Splunk for querying and monitoring complex systems.Basic to intermediate experience with HW engineering design flows, ETX, grid computing, GPU computing.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a matrixed global organization.Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Where you will be working Cork has a proud reputation as Ireland's second largest economic engine and is now one of the Top 20 location choices in Europe with 39,000 people being employed by over 170 overseas companies.
