BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST OF PERMANENT FULL-TIME STAFF NURSE/ENHANCED NURSE CHILDREN'S SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY JOB REF: 72570 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse/Enhanced Nurse appointments within the Children's Services may be made over the next 6 months.
Location: This post is primarily located in Crannog Children's Respite Service.
Crannog provides a respite service to children up to 18 years of age who have a wide range of needs including those with Physical disability, complex medical needs, Autism and behavioural needs.
There may also be a requirement to cover hours in the other Children's Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres located in Galway City.
Candidates will be required to be completely flexible in this position and will be required to work a variety of hours including day and night duty hours and sleep-ins as required.
The Role: To support the implementation of children's individualised developmental and educational programmes and work together with the multidisciplinary and staff teams in ensuring the maximum benefit of the programme for the children.
To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting children with complex needs.
To demonstrate and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply his/ her skills to ensure the developmental, learning, physical, social, and emotional needs of the children in his/ her care are addressed at all times.
Be an informed resource for educating and supporting care assistants and family members.
Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Children's Services Co-ordinator/ Sector Manager.

Qualifications/Experience: •A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais).
A RNID qualification is highly desirable.
•Candidates must have a minimum of six months experience of working with children with an Intellectual Disability.
•A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post.
•Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
•Basic IT skills are also desirable.

•Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs.
•The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.
Participate in person-centred planning, reviews and team meetings.
•Attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team.
Working Hours: 75 hours per fortnight based on a 7-day/night duty roster.
The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays and night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs.
The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave: 24 days per annum.
Appropriate service-related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years' service respectively.
Remuneration: Department of Health Staff Nurse (01/06/2024) salary scale - €35,419 per annum x 11 increments - €51,776 (Max) per annum.
Long Service Increment (LSI) - €53,318 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Or
Department of Health Enhanced Nurse (01/06/2024) salary scale - €42,372 per annum x 7 increments - €53,478 (Max) pro rata per annum.
Long Service Increment (LSI) €55,044 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service.
