emeis Ireland is the largest Nursing Home Group and a market leader in Ireland for elderly care.
At emeis Ireland we are looking for an experienced Staff Nurse to join our team.To work as a team member providing a high quality of care to all residents within the nursing home, meeting their physical, psychological, religious, and social needs.
To liaise positively and with the residents best interests with all members of the primary care team, with relatives and all staff within the nursing home.
*Unfortunately, at this time we are not accepting overseas applications that require sponsorship GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Care: Take full responsibility for Resident care as directed by the Home Manager.
For example, Nurses must ensure that residents receive suitable and timely bathing, showering and toileting.
Use the available computer facilities to record and maintain residents files on EPIC.
Report any ill-health amongst Residents and consult with the Nurse Manager prior to making requests for GP / Professional visits where necessary.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care, seeking medical or other interventions as required.
Observe and provide for any additional requirements residents may have i.e.
Chiropody, Sight testing, Hearing appointments etc.
Participate in the evaluation and review of policies and procedures as and when required.
Ensure collection of any specimens that must be sent to the surgery/hospital.
Carry out all nursing procedures efficiently and effectively.
Administer prescribed medicines and maintain the appropriate records in line with the Companys policies and procedures and NMBI guidelines ensuring for example that medication is consumed by the resident.
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents' personal & financial affairs, & avoid abuse of the privileged relationships Residents: Maintain accurate records and ensure that each Resident within the Nursing Home has an individualised Care Plan.
Resident Care Plans to be reviewed as and when required and always in line with the Companys policies and procedures and NMBI guidelines.
On admission of residents, initial entries are recorded on assessment sheets, and these are then transferred to EPIC (Computerised Information Management System).
All new residents should be allocated a G.P.
prior to night staff handover.
Establish and maintain relationships with residents that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
Communication: Advise Home Manager of any incident / accident and status of any Residents whose care / health is causing concern.
Supervise visits and liaise with GPs to establish a good relationship between GPs / Health Care Professionals and the Nursing Home.
Inform the kitchen of any special dietary needs.
Supervise the serving of meals, ensuring that the special dietary needs of individual Residents are being met.
Establish and maintain good communication with Residents, Relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all relevant Staff Members at the end of each shift.
Participate in Staff and Resident meetings as required.
Budgetary / Financial Control: Be aware of and work within budgets agreed by the Home Manager and Head Office.
Ensure that all commodities used in and around the Nursing Home are sensibly conserved by all Staff Members e.g.
monitor the usage of incontinence aids, wipes, dressings, electricity etc.
Human Resources (HR): Participate in Staff Induction & Training programs as and when required.
Marketing: Actively market the Nursing Home and promote a positive personal/professional profile within the local community, always ensuring the good reputation of the Nursing Home.
Ensure the Nursing Home is attractively presented, and odour free, always, in line with the Companys attention to detail philosophy.
Deal with potential Residents as requested.
Training & Development: Supervise and instruct junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Nursing Home, giving help and guidance where appropriate.
Supervision and mentorship of intern staff nurses.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Keep professionally updated in all areas of clinical expertise.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
Health & Safety: Report immediately to the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self, or another.
Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Nursing Homes Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
Report to the Home Manager, or the Maintenance Operative, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment, or any potential hazard.
Promote safe working practice within the Nursing Home.
General: Adhere to all appropriate NMBI guidelines / regulations, and provide written evidence of such adherence upon request from Line Management.
Ensure that all existing stocks are maintained in a safe, tidy environment.
Order new supplies as and when required.
Maintain all logbooks and records as required by both the H.I.Q.A.
and Company Management team.
Ensure that all information of a confidential nature, gained in the course of work is not divulged to third parties.
Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Ensure the security of the Nursing Home is always maintained.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
Leadership: Nurses are responsible for the management of several employees at any one time and should be able to lead by example, motivate and guide their colleagues in the administration of care.
All employees must adhere to the dress code as described at induction.
Personal Protective Equipment must also be worn as directed and in full compliance with Health and Safety Legislation where applicable.
SKILLS Proof of full current registration with NMBI Ability to communicate effectively at all levels English language ability must be such that the staff member is competent to communicate effectively with residents in relation to speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Clinical Expertise in Professional area of qualification.
Team player.
Genuine interest in working with the relevant Resident group.
Must provide Garda Vetting clearance in line with H.I.Q.A.

Positive and compassionate attitude.
A high degree of empathy sensitivity and patience.
A nurturing and positive can do attitude.
The ability to follow procedures and instructions.
A desire to use your initiative, but also to work in a team.
